Nikko - House / Vacation STAY 40938

Beautiful place, close to the station, the bus station for main tourist attractions, clean and tidy. Best ryokan so far, spacious and traditional and the owner is very kind and thoughtful. We would have spend more time if we could.

Property is located 10-15 min walk from the station. Reasonably convenient location. Opposite a tourist information centre. Buses to the major tourist sites and Chuzenji pass in front (though sometimes they don't stop if they are full. You can walk to the first stop at the train station if you have trouble getting on) Central Nikko is a small place so numerous eateries are within short walking distance though many places close early like 6 or 7 pm. Staying here is just like visiting a relative's home and enjoying the comforts of home. Facilities meet the needs of the weary traveller (if you don't mind the traditional Japanese mattresses on tatami mat). It's a rather worn out looking place from the outside though. Probably at the price paid, one might have expected a bit more.

I think the host could be more responsive to texts sent - be sure to reply rather than reply selectively, and also be quicker with response. It can be unnerving not to receive a response and have to wonder if things are ok with the booking.

Location was great, right off the main street and set back from the road. Spacious, had a washer and dryer which was very helpful

Cool typical Japanese house. Close to all Nikko has to offer
