"Home away from home"

9.0

Located in a quiet place with a field of cows for neighbours. Local pub is a stones throw away. Plenty of space for multiple cars in the drive. Cosy living room with fire. Felt like a home away from home.

Floorboards are a little creaky and walls a bit thin but it wasn’t a big deal and is completely unavoidable.

"Beautiful: somewhere to definately return to"

9.0

The cottage was very well maintained: clean and comfortable. The views, overall peace and tranquility and dark skies were splendid.

Appreciate that this is a one off: DofErs making a noise in the campsite below us at an early hour (about 6 to 6.30am) on the Sunday: it sounded like they were having a game of cricket!

"Idyllic traditional cottage with amazing views. Will definitely stay again"

10.0

The location was amazing and I couldn’t stop looking at the view. We thought the cottage was semi detached, but it’s a single detached building and you get the whole property. Mike and his family have thought of everything to make sure guests have everything they need. Will definitely stay again. So much better that the cottage retains some more traditional decor, as many other similar cottages look like a Swedish furniture showroom inside. Very close to Bakewell, which is delightful and the Royal Oak pub nearby serves amazing food. We didn’t want to leave.

Only things that could improve the cottage would be a dishwasher and a bit more fridge/freezer space

"A lovely cottage in an outstanding location . Great value for money . Host was incredibly friendly and helpful . The fam"

The cottage is in a fantastic location . It was immaculately clean and really well equipped .

The fridge was to small for a cottage catering for 6 persons . This could easily be remedied by putting a larger fridge/ freezer in the boiler /boot room . As there was no dishwasher a drainer is needed at the kitchen sink .

"Fantastic spacious cottage perfectly situated in the Peak District"

9.0

The cottage was huge! It certainly exceeded our expectations as it ended up being fantastic value for money. There was plenty of space for six of us, it was cosy and well equipped - in particular, there was plenty of firewood for our stay to keep us warm in the evenings after spending the days hiking. The lounge space was really comfortable too. The bedrooms were a good size, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom had a decent shower and bath. The location was brilliant too with access to lots of popular walks less than 30 mins drive away (i.e. Lud's Church & The Roaches and Chrome Hill). The Pack Horse Inn 2 minutes walk away was perfect for a drink and some chips as well! Finally, the information provided by the hosts was really useful and their communication was great - thanks again for a fantastic stay.

There really wasn't much to fault at all... Maybe the lack of toiletries? Fortunately we had brought our own anyway, though it would be good to have had that pointed out beforehand (like the lack of towels).
