There is a lot of communication about the rules of the house and charges that they will penalize you with if you do not obey, but then when we checked in there was a lot of dust on a number of surfaces, the bedroom draws were very dusty, had random bolts and nuts and old bits of rubbish, there was black mould around the spa bath, the log fire was not able to be viewed because the door was black, there was no method to get fire wood from outside into the house without splintering yourself on rough cut pine wood, there was coffee granules left on the kitchen bench and floor, I could go on. Thus, if you are going to be so exacting with us, you must expect it from us. Further, there is a risk, as has already happened on this listing, of "putting peoples backs up" with so many instructions via so many methods - booking - fridge door - black book - then another email before you leave etc. that you risk alienating people who would be happy to just read the book and keep it tidy like any normal person. However, I then understand that the McKenzie team must encounter such horrific examples of scummy behavior and filth mongers that they may be forced to behave this way to just get people to do some basic cleanliness type behavior. So if this level of "pressure" is really necessary to enforce basic human rights of the cleaners and house owners, then the best advice is just to accept it as the "modern way" and enjoy what otherwise is a great area, a great house setup with a lovely flow, and a big spa bath that the pictures do not do justice of. The dinner plates are small side plate size, and the oven takes a while to get going, the microwave is very good and the dishwasher works fine. The area was quiet and peaceful and being winter it was great to have a log fire, just bring your own gloves and something to carry fire wood in from the back area. Great value for money in these crisis-crisis days.

I have said my bit above, I neither like nor dislike the "attitude" of the McKenzie team, it is what it is and probably a sad indictment of modern standards of behavior when "using" someone's house. But the cleaning standards do need to be improved so that there is not a risk you come across 2-faced (demanding of us and then not being so thorough yourself).

Fireplace was a nice bonus.

Not much provided in the way of kitchen items or crockery. Starter packs of toilet paper, washing powder etc when property description states included. I booked a different property in town and got moved to this property out of town.

Kitchen could be better stocked with crockery and utensils.
