Mowbray Stable Cottages

Lucie is a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome. The cottages are on a quiet plot of land but within walking distance to a pub that serves lovely food, and Thirsk in the other direction. The cottage we stayed in was clean and tidy. Only downside for us would be that the bed was a bit too hard for us, but this is a matter of opinion. We will definitely be returning.

Great location for Thirsk and getting about North Yorkshire. Thoughtfully equipped accomodation, really nice people, welcoming and helpful. Booked as a spontaneous trip on the day, delighted with our good luck. Would definitely stay again. Might try the glamping pods in the future.

It was easy to find, a great location near to a number of different attractions, and it was clean and cosy. Our dog also enjoyed using the enclosed paddock. Very friendly host who was around for any questions or help with anything.

The cottage was very comfortable especially the bed. It was modern inside with up-to-date oven and microwave plus induction hob, which took a bit of working out. The hosts were very helpful but I did not ask them and relied on the internet and managed to sort it all out. The internet connection was excellent. The location was good and for those who like a good walk within walking distance of Thirsk. There was also a smart tv and parking very easy.

The only downside was although the bungalow at the entrance to the property looked well built it had an untidy/neglected air so that when I first arrived I thought I had come to the wrong place. However, I expect this is a work in progress as it is obvious other things have taken priority.

We were looking for a cozy accessible cottage for a little break and a catch up, Mowbray Stable fitted that perfectly. We took one car, but plenty of space for more.The very well equipped kitchen was great for eating in, but there were plenty of choices for eating out in Thirsk, barely a one mile walk away. We tried the Italian restaurant Bianco, great menu and great value,would highly recommend it.Walk 10 minutes to the village of Kilvington, and there's a pub called the Old Oak Tree, would recommend the food there too. It is a good base for exploring more of Yorkshire, but we were quite happy to stick close by. Lucie and Paul were exceptional hosts, 100% recommend this place

Nothing to dislike!

It was larger than we’d imagined. Spotless and every utensil needed, including iron, hairdryer and corkscrew! Couldn’t fault it, the best we’ve stayed in. Paul and Lucie were the best hosts and the location was great and quiet.

Excellent facilities. Hosts friendly and very welcoming. Cottage was spotless and clean. Set in beautiful countryside. Would definitely recommend.
