Griffin Cottage

Wifi very poor and hardly worked only one toilet roll so needed to purchase some, no handsoap, no instructions for heating so very warm, mould in the shower room and copwebs.

The size of the house was very good. The facilities were ok the size of the sofas communication with the owners was good.

The fact there is only one proper shower in a house that sleeps 6 is not convenient. There is only a handheld shower in the middle bathroom which is not easy to use. Also 2 toilet rolls for 3 days is not reasonable. The hot water seems to run out after 1 shower.

Everything it was lovely

Comfy beds. Location and parking. Hot powerful shower.

Only one wine glass. Rest were flutes or G and T glasses. Considering it sleeps 6 there really should be 6 of everything (wine glasses, matching crockery etc). Gap in back door letterbox could do with being sealed or improved as next door neighbours smoking smells entered the cottage.

Excellent location and the bonus of a parking space in the middle of Whitby.

Very comfortable with quirky, traditional features. A bathroom for each bedroom was great. Lovely peaceful location with easy to access shops, harbour, sea etc. Parking next to the cottage was a bonus given difficult parking in Whitby. Milk provided on arrival was much appreciated.

Only a couple of niggles: Wifi wasn't working - I think this is a Whitby problem rather than specific to The Griffin and it didn't detract much for us over fifties! Lack of anti-slip mats for baths and shower. This was a bit of a problem with 88 year old mother (we had to use a handtowel in the shower). Radiators not very efficient in top floor bedroom - again wasn't a big issue for us as bed was warm and cosy with enough extra bedding supplied.

Fabulous big house. Tons of space and options to sleep. Parking a bonus - a squeeze for a Honda Civic, but this is clear in the photos and no issue from Traffic Wardens. Brilliant location. Really central but quiet and peaceful. Bonus sightings of Simon from Simply Whitby

Safe key box slightly difficult to release for a short person. Husband managed fine. Wifi wasn't working. Either router or cable issue. Milk bottle had been opened - not a big issue as plenty of shops just around the corner.

Area, spacious house.

Back bedroom had a poor smell and there were a number of hairs in the bedding which also didn't look made. I had to sleep in the single attic bed because at least it was clean. Fire in living room didn't work. 22 year old carbon monoxide detector wasn't working - no batteries in it so I put some in. Relatives that were staying with had had Covid very close to the break and they were not willing to cancel without taking the full fee. In fact they stopped all communication when requested. Place needed a overhaul, although it was modern, everything was well used / stained carpets etc.

Beautiful cottage close to the town centre it was cozy and wonderful and we would love to return very spacious everything you need for a great stay would love to stay longer

Unfortunately there was no Internet but wasnt a problem and maybe some black out curtains would be good. We arrived at 10pm Friday so it was late would of liked a later checkout
