Dune Cottage

Amazing central location, very cozy warm homily little cottage, minutes from the beach ,the cottage had every thing we needed and more ,having spent Christmas in the cottage it made it it so special..Will definitely recommend this lovely little cottage and will be returning ourselves with no hesitation ...amazing hosts and cleaners with beautiful touches of Xmas decorations and little gifts of chocolates..Thank you ..

No understanding of the other reviews we had none of those problems...

The traditional character. The lovely Christmas tree on arrival!

It can be tricky to unlock the door. I found you have to pull it towards you to open it. Just needs a big of adjustment.

Location was great for exploring whitby. Very quirky lots of history The cottage was clean

Although clean the cottage is very tired and could do with a bit of TLC The fire on the pictures looks like a log fire (with logs to the side) it isn’t, there was an electric fire stood in front of it but no plug socket so we had to move that to put it on. None of the doors shut and it’s ready for a lick of paint The kitchen is well equipped but again tired kitchen doors don’t close properly and there’s an odd washer facing the lounge. Take milk and they say it’s supplied it’s not. It was very cold when we arrived but warmed up quickly in fact got too hot. All the wardrobes are filled with things bedding pillows etc meaning it’s hard to but away your clothes could be an issue if staying a few days .

The property was in a great location.

As soon as we got to the property and checked the rooms, the main bedroom the bed wasn’t made and the towels was on the floor. The host then moved us to a different cottage (old skipper cottage) again, great location, but very un clean. Spider webs every where, creatures crawling everywhere. No bedding in top room.

The location was perfect

The cottage was okish, but not as good as the photo's which advertise the cottage on this site. It needed a handle on one of the doors fixing. The feature log burner was hidden behind an electric log burner, which didn't work. There was a broken satellite dish lying outside the cottage which should be removed, it made the place look shabby. We were told there was tea and coffee available for our arrival, but the coffee was unusable as it was all dried out and stuck to the container. We left new coffee in jars for the next guests. This little cottage could be so beautiful, with a bit more attention to detail and fixing basic repairs.

Cheap, convenient for town center.

The TV didn't work, rang the owner and was given a load of BS about the signals being poor. It was obvious to me that the sat dish was faulty (I am a city and guilds qualified TV and Satelite engineer). In reality it was too much trouble and cost to sort it out. Spoiled what could have been a good holiday.

The cottage is in a brilliant location. It’s very atmospheric too and beds etc were comfortable. The downstairs bathroom door doesn’t close properly so a bit risqué at times but no big deal! Would love to stay here again.

The property was great (except the bathroom door) but the communication with the hosts/managers was not great. Queries I sent prior to and during our stay went unanswered. I have a foreign mobile phone so calling wasn’t an option. We asked about parking permits and got no response, only to find parking permits in the house when we arrived and had already forked out for 24hr parking elsewhere. I also have a charge I believe to be for those permits but no one has answered my question what that charge is. Communication definitely needs improving. Otherwise a wonderful stay !

Location. Bedrooms.

Outside very scruffy. Main room looked nothing like the photo, needs updating. Television didn't work, phoned for help to get it going but nobody phoned back. First floor bathroom door wouldn't close and shower fitting loose.
