The Barn, rustic country cottage dog friendly

I liked the rustic feel toThe Barn. The hosts made it feel special with little touches i.e a pint of milk in the fridge. Everything in The Barn was charming and comfortable, plus very dog friendly which was very important to us.

There was nothing we didn't like.

I was very cosy and made our stay very enjoyable

Absolutely beautiful cottage in a rural location but close to all the local tourist attractions. Perfect for dogs and like a home away from home. 5 star place to stay

Absolutely nothing, it was 5 star

It was cosy and comfy with everthing you needed and didn't take you long to get to Whitby and Robin Hood Bay. George the lovely black lab greeting us each morning was a bonus.

Only thing I would say needing a bit tlc was outside area and it would'nt need much work to fix, but it didn't spoil our stay

The location was central to robin hoods bay and Whitby. At the side of the property is a public footpath which leads to a grassy field on the hill which is quiet and lively for a picnic in the sun. The local pub is only 1.5m away and an easy walk.

The outside area was poorly presented. Weeds and clearly not been swept /tided up for some time. Rear area for washing machine and dishwasher area poor. Cobwebs. Dark interior with only front facing windows and door. If it was lighter materials/ colour would feel brighter and more welcoming. The extra £20 cash surcharge when the search and booking was for 2 adults and a dog. If there is an additional charge for taking a dog, this should be reflected in the initial total charge . It felt like it was a ‘hidden’ extra. The farm dog and into the property and cocked his leg twice. Now we’re dog people and he was lovely, and when we informed bookings via message we were told to keep the door shut. Well it was 25 degrees, our dog wanted to potter in and out and we wanted fresh air flowing in. Not really the response we expected. The £20 feet was waivered re the dog. I don’t think we’ve ever wrote a bad review before but it just fell below our expectations and with some TLC and adjustments it could be made better very easily.

Super cosy and peaceful cottage. Bed was extremely comfortable, amazing big bath and all facilities you could need included. Tea/coffee and milk all available on arrival. Easy to access, easy to find and perfect location for traveling around and seeing all the local sights. About a 10 minute drive to seasend, Whitby town, robin hoods bay.

WiFi connection was very poor so unable to watch the smart TV without issues, and struggled with phone connection beyond basic use. However for us it just added to the cosy and secluded nature of the cottage making it peaceful and the perfect opportunity to shut off and unwind. An enclosed area for the dog would have been a bonus, we were aware of this before booking though, and there is a field just across the road for him to have a little walk in the morning and evening.
