Stunted Totara, Unit 4

Our wee tiny house for two nights was exceptional. Nothing could be improved - location, cleanliness, comfy bed and everything we needed was there.

Good location

You have to clean it yourself. Hidden surcharge before you book it.

The traffic on the main road could be heard within our unit Basic and convenient

Unit really quite small for a couple

Good bed, bad sofa, very small place, to little place for cooking.

Close to shops, supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. Easy drive to Aoraki/Mt.Cook visitor centre, Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo. King size bed, fluffy white towels

Couch needs cushions on seat area. Not very comfortable . Not much room in tight bathroom. Not much room for luggage. Had a few ants in the bathroom and kitchen on arrival. Sprayed and they stayed away.

Comfortable king size bed. Convenient location within walking distance to supermarket. The unit had everything we needed to prepare simple meals

We would have liked a bedside lamp on both sides of the bed and the sink in the bathroom was too small.

The Tiny House was beautifully and practically furnished. There was a surprising amount of space. There was a sofa, a table with two high stools and a well-equipped kitchen.

In advance, the host sent us an email with the house rules. Generally, I am a big fan of house rules. I think it's important to treat the accommodation and its furnishings with care. But I had two problems with those house rules. Frist, the responsibility for the cleanliness of the kitchen is completely transferred to the previous guests. It is expressly pointed out that the cleaning staff have no time and no mandate to take care of this. And this was how it is practiced. In our case, the frying pan, the coffee plunger and the fridge were dirty. This is not acceptable. I have a contract with the hosts and am entitled to clean accommodation, especially as a cleaning fee is charged (which is not the case in all private accommodation). Second, the rules were formulated in a very imperative and quite rude manner (partially written in red, bold and/or underlined), to the extend, that I didn't felt welcome (which has never happened to me before, not even in cheap and basic motels). The reason for this is probably, that some guests haven’t complied with the rules in the past. And I can understand that the hosts are upset about it (I would be too). However, formulating the rules in this way does not change the situation, as the example of us respectively our previous guests has shown.

Very comfortable with everything we needed. Good base to explore the region.

When we arrived, there was a lot of Trash (especially Glass bottles) flying and lying around in the driveway due to the Wind, that we had to collect first, before we could enter the premises and our parking spot. So not the best first Impression 😉 Sofa was not as comfortable as it looked like. No table for eating, just the kitchen counter, which was full of our stuff since there are barely any other options to put down your stuff...
