Bay of Islands Cottages

To start with the obvious, I would definitely recommend this location to everyone. For us, it was the start of our New Zealand trip, and I think it was the best decision to start there. If we had more time, I think we all would have liked to stay longer. The Breakfast was fabulous; the hosts always brought a self-made breakfast in the morning. Even brought the breakfast even earlier, to accommodate our already booked plans. Besides that, the hosts were really nice and helpful. Everything went super smooth, and we had everything we needed in the cottages. Would love to come again.

We had just arrived after a long flight and were so fortunate to be welcomed by Jenny and Peter. They & their family are the most lovely people you could meet. Their breakfasts & food supplies were delicious, thoughtful & just what we needed as we adjusted to the time change. We had the most wonderful time in this beautiful cottage with an incredible view & lovely gardens. We are so grateful to them & their family for their excellent suggestions/assistance that enabled us to have a wonderful time in the Bay of Islands area.

It was perfect.

The location is splendid, secluded in the forest and surrounded by birds but with a view on a quiet part of the sea. Peter was an amazing host, he shared precious suggestions and tips on activities and restaurants, and we loved listening to his stories. The cottage is really cosy and curated (bonus point for the sulfate-free shampoo). And the delicious homemade breakfast makes everything perfect!

This is a delightful cottage offering seclusion and a wonderful setting within 10 min drive of Russell. It is very well equipped. The hosts provide breakfast and deliver warm bread and muffins at 8.30 each morning. The screened floor to ceiling windows onto the large balcony provide plenty of ventilation without the worry of insects!

The poor internet connection might well have contributed to the lack of response when I tried to alter my booking. Our flight was brought forward by several hours and I asked to leave a day earlier. It did mean we had to leave before dawn on our final morning to ensure we got to Aukland in time! The only other disappointment was the hard mattress. This was partly remedied by the host providing a winter weight duvet which I folded in three.
