Blue Sky Cottage

Gorgeous cottage. Lots of games and information leaflets provided. We benefited from the umbrellas provided on our walk back from the waterfall.

Maybe there could be a curtain across the front door as it was distracting watching a movie and seeing shapes outside. Also, maybe provide a couple of washing tablets because we needed to wash our clothes after being drenched. Also, the carpet in the living room look extremely tired. Maybe flooring would be cleaner. None of these suggestions would stop me from staying again.

Beautiful little cottage, perfectly situated in the centre of Matlock. Minutes walk from the park, restaurants, pubs and shops. Ideal base for exploring the Peak District. Blue Sky Cottage is very well equipped and super comfy. Owners have thought of every little detail to make this a home from home. Just walk in, wipe the dogs paws and pop the kettle on! Beautifully furnished, this cottage has a fabulous bathroom with big shower and bath which was well needed after exploring the Peaks. Very dog friendly. Lovely guest book gave us some great ideas for local restaurants and there is plenty of information in the cottage for places to visit locally. Thank you for a super stay. It was too short and we would have loved to stay longer.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. Our car (Discovery Sport) fitted perfectly in the parking space. I know this has been an issue for others. A curtain over the front door would have been great as the dogs thought someone was at the door every time someone walked past! No genuine issues.

Location

fabulous location, good information about local walks, warm and cosy, comfy bed, great shower, washer/dryer (which turned out to be essential!)

the kitchen floor and lounge carpet!! I’m sorry, but they are filthy! I cleaned a small area of each - see photos) Dog Friendly’ should still mean clean. Floor tiles throughout would be far more hygienic. Also, there needs to be an outside tap in the yard, to wash down muddy boots and dogs.

Cosy

Our stay coincided with snow arriving in Matlock. The cottage was warm and cosy on arrival. The cottage is well laid out with everything we needed for the 2 of us and our small dog. Great view of Riber Castle from the bedroom window. Nicely situated on the edge of town.

The concrete yard is very small, which would have been absolutely fine for just us humans, but was difficult with a dog. Also, a lot of muck had been washed down in to the garden from the high surrounding walls or cottage roof, which our dog traipsed in to kitchen, meaning we had to clean up every time he went out.

The location is excellent and everything in the cottage was very good .

There’s was nothing we didn’t like about the cottage

Brilliant central location with lovely views of riber Castle. Nice walks right from the doorstep up to high tor, riber, Matlock bath. Excellent access to shops. Super comfy bed and great facilties. An absolute treat. And a bonus that our dog could enjoy it with us.
