Windsor Retreat in shadow of the Castle.

The property was very clean, big enough for 6 people easily. Fantastic location, 5 mins from the centre, 5 mins from the river and we used the open air Alma road NCP parking spaces directly at the end of the street, over the road and onto the industrial area, literally 5 min walk. Cost is 15.95 for 24 hours, download the app, very easy. It was absolutely roasting and we were glad of the air con units in each room and downstairs. Communication was good. Would highly recommend this property especially if you want a great location to sight see.

The description does say 2 rooms are ensuite, which actually means 2 toilets and a small hand basin only. There is only 1 shower room, with toilet and basin, down stairs. The spiral stair case is a challenge, but in keeping with the property. I liked it, my adult son, who is a bit of a unit struggled, but that's on him i guess! ;). Was a little noisey, a motor bike revving its engine at the back of the property early one morning, which backs on to some small businesses, but this was a one off I'm sure.

The location was perfect,

Handy location. Nice quality house. Nice hamper left with snacks and tea and coffees. Good to have Sky TV, Netflix etc. Parking at Windsor and Eton Riverside railway station is £14.75 for the whole weekend, Friday to Monday (inc) which was a bargain and not too far a walk.

Nice hamper, but would have been handy to have a small bottle of milk to go with the tea/coffee. The spiral staircase can be a bit difficult to climb with luggage. It wouldn't be great if you had mobility issues. The slight smell coming from the drains would benefit from a chemical clean and use of a fixed air freshener. There was air freshener spray under the sink that dealt with it, but it came back over time. The 10am checkout is slightly earlier compared to other local ones. 11am would have been better. There are three nightclubs on the other side of the railway arches, which could be heard at back of house/attic bedroom - but it didn't keep us awake. Not heard in the front room.

The location was good and is the reason why we chose to stay

The heater wasn't on when we arrived and we suffered for several hours in freezing conditions before the Host returned our communications and we could ascertain where the thermostat was. There was also no WiFi password and we had to ask for it. Would have been very useful to have an instruction booklet that told us everything about the property, which is common place with other places we have stayed at. There were ensuites with two of the bedrooms, but no toilet attached to the master bedroom, which meant having to navigate down the very steep spiral staircase during the night.
