3 adults, 5 nights, 1 and a half rolls of toilet paper. 5 nights, 2 pieces of foil in the oven. 5 nights, no napkins or paper towels. For what we paid, there probably should have been a few more things. The only few parking spots were not available due to city work, not the owners fault, but we still had to park a bit further than the elderly ladies needed to walk.

"A Well-stocked Gem"

9.0

Everything is available to have very pleasant stay in a well-equipped home. There is a Co-op down the street for essentials. It was nice having a washing machine, but there is not a dryer. So we hung our clothes on the heated towel rack in the bathroom, which worked pretty well. The location is good for a day trip into Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Just be aware that the bedrooms are upstairs, while the bathroom is on the ground floor. Also you need to find parking along the street, which proved to not be much of a problem for us.

"You gotta try this"

10.0

Very nice, comfortable and quiet. Was excellent to have all the comforts of home, including laundry. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Nothing bad to say, it really was a great place to stay.

"Disappointing"

2.0

The house was tastefully decorated and the interior (kitchen, bathrooms, flooring) were relatively recently renovated. The master bedroom was of a good size. I imagine if you wanted to disconnect then that would be a good location or if you're prepared to daytrip to other areas by car and eat out.

The house is relatively old. The location is in a tiny village (a collection of grubby houses) with a small supermarket and nothing much else. Parking is on the road, not part of the actual property. When we (myself, my wife and our two children - 4 and 7) arrived, we were greeted with a muddy entrance mat. The bedding in the bottom children's bunk was muddy and the steps were dirty as if someone did the top bunk's bedding while wearing shoes. The kitchen paraphernalia (pots, pans, etc) were grimy as if they had not been used/cleaned in a while. The kitchen bin had a broken lid. We promptly put the plates, cutlery and pots we intended to use through the dishwasher and messaged the owners about the children's bed. The owners despatched their local cleaning person to re-do the bedding and then promptly "tidied" the plates and pots we had just cleaned and put more grubby marks on them. The property has an old TV that has freeview channels and a DVD player and a selection of old DVDs. The TV won't connect to streaming services as it's too old but the property does have wifi which seemed ok. Streaming was a tiny bit laggy if both our kids were on their tablets and my wife and me were browsing but considering the remote location, maybe that's to be expected. On the second night my wife was bitten by what was clearly a bed bug. We only noticed this by the end of the second day (we were doing day trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow, etc). This required is to call for medical advice and then drive to Motherwell at 7pm at night to find a Pharmacy that was still open. When we explained this to the owners, their response was somewhat distant and uncaring. We declined the services of their local "cleaning" person and instead agreed to check out a day early. It appears to me that the owners are managing the property remotely and so may not have a full picture of what is actually happening or the actual state of it.
