"Lola the Lodge, one week, one couple and a dog!"

8.0

Lola the Lodge is located in a very good position on the site, with a lovely view of the lake. There were loads of ducks and swans which was nice. The Lodge is well equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher and plenty of crockery. Nathalie, the owner has considered everything when stocking it for holiday let's. We spoke on the phone a couple of times before our holiday as there was a web issue, and Nathalie was very pleasant and helpful. There was a small boiler issue - the pressure needed increasing and could only be done by a member of the on site maintenance team - but the staff were surprisingly helpful, and efficient so the issue was sorted out really quickly. There's a golf place with a small cafe on site and that was nice; we had to sit outside because we have a dog, but there was an undercover area and staff offered to put the patio heater on for us. We had breakfast there before driving home, but were a bit disappointed to be given it in cardboard boxes - with a wooden knife and fork! - because we were sitting just outside! The people who eat in got proper crockery and cutlery! Still, it was efficient and the food was nice enough, plus it was a good price by today's standards.

When I booked, I didn't realise the Lodge was part of such a huge holiday complex - not somewhere I would usually choose for us - and was quite shocked when I realised how many units there were on site. However, the Lodge - and its location - were ideal for us during our week's stay with our dog. We didn't have any issues with noise where we were. There is a pool on site, but it wasn't clear when I booked the accommodation that you need to purchase a Haven Fun Pass - at around £33 each - in order to be able to book and then pay for activities on site (I got the impression it's more of a kiddies pool anyway) We didn't buy passes as we were happy doing our own thing. On our last evening I had a look inside the "main centre" which was busy, noisy and full of arcade games which aren't for us, but you can avoid all that if you want to!
