Quiet Location great

Fun little place,, full of character and perfectly located. Some of the negative reviews are a little exaggerated. Yes it is tiny, without much space for storage or privacy if you're a couple, but the apartment does use its limited space efficiently and has some cool features. The sofa bed could use an upgrade but I slept well on it and found it comfortable. Regarding parking, follow the host's instructions, confirm with a photo you're in a good spot, and you should be ok. I did receive a ticket my last night but the host assured me he took care of it and I haven't heard anything further since November so I believe him.

This was the second time we stayed at Suite Ortygia Vista Mare, and we will return next year. It is unique and beyond any imagination. At least to Northern folks like us. Situated right at the ocean. Some 8 meters above the roaring sea. Heading east, waiting for the sun to raise right in front of you. You can even watch the sun rise lying in the bed. Behind the double door entrance you'll find a tiny small flat - of one room - in the basement of a three stock building. Everything you need is there, yet so very tiny. Walls and ceiling constitutes archs in sand stone - really nice. However enchanting, you are not there to spend much time, but dragged back to the roaring sea and enchanting narrow alleys of Ortygia.

Leaving the place

We had an amazing 6-day stay at Suite Ortigia Vista Mare! The sea view right from the apartment is incredible – perfect for catching the sunrise each morning. The kitchenette had everything we needed, and the little outdoor table and bench were just right for morning coffee or an afternoon spritz while watching the waves. There are two great swimming spots close by, and I’d recommend checking out both! The one on the left is more spacious and a lot of fun. If you have snorkeling gear or even just goggles, bring them along – the water's clear, and there’s plenty of fish to see. Overall, it was a fantastic stay with stunning views, and we’d definitely come back!

Just a couple of small things to note: there’s a bit of traffic noise, especially from motorbikes, but that’s just part of the area’s vibe and not the owner’s fault. The sofa bed’s seen better days and has a bit of a slope, but we still slept fine.

Nothing

The apartment is located directly on the traffic road not giving privacy or peace. It was impossible to sleep due to cars and trucks passing 2 meters from the apartment entrance. At 7 AM we were waken up by a truck who stoped directly in front the apartment with engine on. Size of apartment is just enough to fit small bed, which you need to make yourself. Bathroom/toilet is directly connected to the sleeping area so there is no privacy at all and it has awful smell. Be careful with the promises from the owner Angelo. We had same situation as many other guests with parking. Angelo informed us to park in the street behind the apartment (Via Nizza) and asked us to send him car plate number so he can arrange free parking with authorities . I parked the car and sent him the photo of the car on the suggested location, which he confirmed as a safe and free spot to park. Next day we got the parking ticket which I paid and asked owner Angelo to compensate since it was his mislead. He promised he will send the money paid for the ticked, but after 3 weeks and my reminder to him no money was received. Owner also send us several messages, photos and video about apartment and Syracuse before arrival and during the stay. In my opinion...a bit to much. In the first message he noted that he left the bottle of wine and water in the apartment free of charge for us, but we found only water. I also need to note that we left the apartment day before the end of our stay due to very poor quality of space and dishonesty of the owner. I didn't ask for any compensation (beside the parking ticket), as I found the booking this apartment was my mistake not checking all details. I always leave honest, mainly positive reviews and this is my first negative review due to dishonesty of the owner. I needed to leave this review to help other guests to be aware about the place and the person.

The property was in a beautiful position. Ideal for walking round Ortigia! Fabulous sunrises just outside your door!

Shower wasn’t much better than trickle!! Parking a nightmare!! It’s advertised with parking but it’s not easy! Constant hassle every time we came back with our rental! Told by owner we could park in various places but told by locals we couldn’t!!! Owner said he organised parking at the local car park and paid for it but by then we’d had enough arguments and hassle so we left early! In my opinion it shouldn’t be advertised with parking . We would have made the accommodation work for us but the parking made it impossible

The apartment is right by the sea. The location and therefore the view are perfect. During the day you can enjoy the sun on the nearby city beach and at night you can watch the moon sparkling on the sea from the bench in front of the apartment. The cars driving past the apartment don't bother you either. The host is super friendly! Questions are answered immediately. I felt comfortable and safe in the place!

Small,compact and bijou but what a fabulous position and view! The host was super communicative and couldn’t have been more helpful.Water and wine in the fridge for us which was a nice touch
