Chichester Retreat with Large Private Mature Garden

Lovely large well fitted out kitchen and dining room. Lounge and snug areas very comfortable and house lovely and warm . Beds comfortable, house clean. Garden was large with plenty of activities for the older children and the games selection in the lounge was excellent. We were given all the information we needed and it was a fabulous family weekend together.

The bedding in the main bedroom smelt musty as if it hadn’t been dried and aired. Showers were very poor, no hot water in the en-suite shower one day. Three dead wasps found in the second bedroom upstairs, one on a pillow and one in a bed ! It was a shame we couldn’t light a fire but I guess understandable as a safety issue. The internet was not very strong and so the TV didn’t work .

The location of the property (although difficult to find) was good, and the gardens could be lovely. The proprietor was accessible and responsive by phone and txt message.

The kitchen bin had rubbish in on our arrival and we had to wash all the medium sized plates as they were all dirty with some previous spillage. The microwave only partially worked, and instructions for rubbish removal were confusing. Some of the external doors were open on arrival at the rear of the house and were difficult to lock. We had no hot water one morning, and 6 of us couldn't get the shower to work in the shared bathroom at all. The house really isn't suitable for 10 (unless family members) as there are only 4 usable bedrooms, one double bedroom is solely accessed via another bedroom. Luckily, we were only a party of 8 and didn't need the extra sleeping facilities. One shower between 8 was very awkward.

Showers awful & so bathroom facilities for numbers of rooms/ guests an issue. Kitchen quite difficult to use & could really do with a significant declutter & organisation Roads & nearby building project noisy.

The house and gardens were so spacious! very child friendly, the kids loved the swings, the trampoline and running around. There were blackberries to pick! And they loved watching the fish in the pond. The grown ups loved the outdoor hot tub and the bbq! The hosts were excellent and easy to contact.

The shower in family bathroom was poor, it would jump from hot to cold. We had an issue with wasps in one bedroom but the hosts were quick to respond and got it sorted straight away.
