Chichester Retreat with Large Private Mature Garden

This is a beautiful old house with lots of great living space, a fabulous garden that my son loved exploring, and really good-sized bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. The owners kindly provided a travel cot and high chair, and fitted a stair gate for us.

As others have mentioned, the shower over the bath has a knack to it, but certainly wouldn’t stop us staying at the property again.

Lovely big garden for the kids to run around in (though it needed considerable TLC, and the grass needed cutting) The location was very convenient for Chichester Harbour and the South Downs (and Chichester itself!)

Not very clean - eg mould in en suite shower, musty bedclothes, broken window panes, sawdust falling from one of the ceiling light fittings, freezer and some cupboards full of old/out of date food Several things not working properly - eg main bathroom shower would only provide either cold or scalding hot water; hot tub not heating up (despite advice from owners about how to increase the temp), table-tennis table warped and unusable, see saw handle broken, rope adjusters for the garden swing also broken Rather expensive for what it was - premium price tag (>£700pn) but not a very premium experience

Cold showers, filthy windows, cracked windows outside in a very poor state of repair, no contact from the owner once we arrived and there was supposed to be a cot, therefore the contract was not fulfilled. But of course this review means nothing, the owner it would seem was cashing in on the Goodwood Festival of Speed. There was no way the property was worth 200 per night let alone 4 times that price. Feel let down and disgusted. Nothing like the pictures, we did not feel as safe as we should be.

Couldn’t be more perfect for a large group with dogs and children. Clean. Endless supply of kitchen utensils, towels and kids toys. Very relaxed host. The property is old which adds to the character of the place. Thank you!

Very comfortable beds, very spacious property, had everything we needed we came for my sisters 60th birthday we all had a fabulous time would definitely return the owner also allowed us to stay later which was wonderful thank you so much we have made some great memories

The only small issues we had was the shower in the main bathroom didn't work properly and we also found there was quite a few cobwebs but was nothing major

The house is nicer in real life than it looked in the pictures! It was perfect for our needs, the bedrooms were sizable and we think there were even a couple of extra beds to what we were expecting! I also found the beds super comfortable. The hot tub was great and we were left a big box full of fruit and veg in the kitchen which was a nice touch. Good instructions were left as well by the host.

The garden could be better looked after, and the main shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold which was troublesome with 11 people in the house.

We had a wonderful stay in this old characterful, spacious house and huge garden. The house had everything we could need from toiletries in the bathrooms to herbs and spices available in the kitchen. We stayed as 3 generations of family to celebrate a big birthday and the house was loved by all. The house felt like a big hug. Despite some iffy weather the garden was well explored by the grandchildren who made good use of the swings. The communication with the owner was excellent and responses to questions were given a swift response. All of my family would love to come back again.

It’s very unkept, grass wasn’t cut until a day after we arrived. No cushions on the outdoor furniture. Could be a wonderful place. Didn’t feel very clean. Lovely big garden but couldn’t make any noise after 9pm!! WiFi terrible Very unusual set up with one double room having to walk through another bedroom. Extremely difficult to find the house with no visible house name

Well equipped, large, spacious, character rural property that met our needs.

The noisy building site next door, but not a lot you can do about that. Hopefully it won’t be going on too long as they start their machinery up very early in the mornings.
