Die Tabakhuis - Karoo (Sutherland)

La casa ha uno stile antico molto interessante ed e’ molto spaziosa. La posizione è centrale, vicino al supermercato e ristoranti.

La struttura non era stata pulita a fondo e l’odore di polvere era insistente. Lo spazio esterno era inutilizzabile.

A lot of heat sources provided - also in the bathroom.

It’s tired and needs a refresh and good clean. For example, the seating cushions on the 2 chairs in the lounge are dingy and dirty - none of us wanted to sit on them. The chairs at the dining table are rickety and need to be fixed. The window in the second bedroom doesn’t close properly - not good on a July night. The patio furniture needs to be replaced. The smell from the area with the broken drain cover outside that others have referred to is still as they had found it. Feels like the owners are “phoning it in”. We paid for 3 nights, but stayed for 2.

The accommodation was very comfortable, as very cozy house - just what you would expect from the Karoo. Easy to get around the village, close to amenities, and a short drive to the SAAO observatory. The beds were comfortable and warm in the cold winter. Lovely high ceilings.

There is a constant sewage stench outside the property, which appears to originate from the manhole cover in the driveway - I think this would be a simple but necessary fix. Also the shower has a small shower head making showering not that enjoyable. I realize this is the Karoo and saving water is important, but at the end of the day, we preferred to use the bath, which uses more electricity and water.

Cosy with fireplace. Well equipped with kitchen crockery, etc. Beautiful interior & books. Spacious and well located in quiet street.

Bathroom floor was dusty and mats are tired. Shower head was fixed. Floor gets very wet. No mop to dry. Mixer tap needs attention and toilet water doesn’t run in enough to flush. Single beds ok for children maybe, however not great for adults.

The property is walking distance from everything, it is so safe, convenient and very clean. In the morning whilst having coffee on the stoep you hear every small thing - birds chirping, leaves rustling. Just amazing!

It’s the most quaint, cosy house. It’s just perfect! The decor is lovely, beds are comfy, stunning location.

The first night we were bombarded by mosquitoes for which we were woefully unprepared! I think warn people to bring stuff with.
