Die Tabakhuis - Karoo (Sutherland)

Home away from home with all the comforts ! :) Beautiful Afrikaans culture decor. Fantastic inside fire/braai area. Loved to eat at the big dining room table eating with the steel cabinet clearly marked for setting table. Loved the bathroom with large shower (open/no doors). Loved the huge main bedroom ! Loved the patio to braai on and look at the stars. Shops & amenities within walking distance. NO traffic :))))) AND old well built walls , cool during day and warm at night with inside fire place FANTASTIC !

Compound near by playing loud music on weekends from lunch time till 10pm sharp then dead quiet. But could drown out their music with our own whilst sitting outside if you cant beat them , join them :D (can't hear them from inside house or bedrooms fortunately thanks to old / decently built thick walls - house and street dead quiet :)))

The unit is very spacious and furnished nicely. Fits perfectly in the surroundings and have loads of character and lots of potential.

The unit really was not clean at all. We had to wipe the dust off the couches before we could sit on them. Dishes and pots were dusty and sticky. Better security would be helpful as we had beggars coming right to the back door. As it was one woman with two children travelling alone this was a concern.

The home has a lot of potential and a lot of character

The home is in desperate need of a deep clean. We had a blood mark in the bed. Everything we used in the kitchen had to be cleaned first due to oil marks or previous food particles still visible. There were thorns in the house, and it was clearly not cleaned thoroughly. The toilet was also filthy and was not cleaned before we arrived. The microwave does not work. It would be a really special place if it was cleaned properly.
