The Miners Cottage

A lovely, comfortable property with everything we needed. Some nice goodies left for us on arrival, including bread, milk and butter, which was very much appreciated. Very convenient for the pub - the menu looked great, although we didn't have time to try the food on this trip unfortunately.

Some fixtures a little tired and worn, eg kitchen cabinets and bathroom fittings, but this didn't affect our stay.

Small list of maintenance needed but minor Didnt like the fact the dog could escape from the garden via the stream

Lovely location near to nice forest walks, and even though it was next to a pub it was very quiet. The rooms were very clean & comfortable. Both bathrooms were great but the main bathroom was very big with a great shower.

Small niggles. The kitchen looks like it is in need of an upgrade & a working can opener & a pair of scissors would have been handy. The "steps" up to the grassed area are not for the faint hearted & I dare not even try them with a replacement hip & knee.

The South facing veranda on the first floor overlooking countryside was idyllic and very peaceful. The upstairs sitting room was very comfortable. The pub next door was very friendly and welcoming. The location was great being very close to the Forest of Dean.

A slightly squeaky mattress!

Quiet and self contained. Was worried about it being next to a pub, but apart from the glass recycling lorry we did not hear anything.

No negatives. If you are planning to eat in the pub, note in low season the pub closes some days. However there are other pubs etc a short drive away.

Beautiful cottage, peaceful location with stunning views

This is our 2nd time here at this beautiful, quaint dog friendly cottage right next to the country pub. It is very clean and has everything to make this home from home. The owners left bread, milk, butter and apples for us. The owners live next door and were available if needed. Christine is a great host. We'll definitely return for a 3rd visit. Highly recommend.

beautiful and unique cottage only a few minutes' walk from the woods. we did not expect the free ranging sheep in the village but it was fun to see them. the hosts were really accommodating and the food and beer in the adjacent Miners Arms was fantastic. a short drive to Lydney, and plenty of forest trails and tourist spots within a 15 minute drive of the accommodation.

the property location left a little to be desired, opposite a car service garage and car park where the rubbish trucks parked up. however, neither were visible from the cottage, which had a great view from the balcony.
