Hip Island House

Location, value, amenities, communication, comfort. Even in Jan in a cold rain the sunroom was our favorite place to gather.

The location was great! We were there because my nephew was having major surgery at MUSC. The property was close to everything. 10 minutes to the hospital. 10 minutes to the beach in the opposite direction. My husband graduated from the Citadel and the house was very close to that as well. Quiet neighborhood. David, the owner was quick with responses and very personable. Easy check in & check out. House was nicely furnished with everything you need. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and appliances. If able to come back to Charleston for an actual vacation, will definitely stay there again. It felt like a home away from home.

There was a bit of a musty smell but since the house is not brand new and is closed up for long periods of time, that can happen. It was tolerable though. Also, would've liked to have TV'S in the bedrooms.

The living space in the house was great -- plenty of room to relax and 2 large screen tv's. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed. The beds in the front and back bedrooms were great; the twin bed in the middle room was also fine. The bathrooms were nice!

A few suggestions: 1) Could use a doormat inside the laundry room door to wipe your feet on when you come in. 2) The door hinges to the middle bedroom could use some WD-40, and 3) Could use more visible street number at the end of the driveway near the street; it is a bit hard to tell which house it is when you arrive, but especially when returning in the dark!

It was a great house with everything you’d need!

Very tastefully decorated, great bed, obvious Grateful Dead Rastafarians. Beautiful art on the walls.

Ice maker

Nice and quiet place. Good kitchen. Good for family or company of 7-8 peoples. Nice outdoor area on the backyard. Short drive to the beach and to the historical part of the city.

This place is really good to stay at least for 3-5 nights. The cleaning fee $170 for only one night stay it's insane and doesn't worth it at all! I realised that I have to pay for a cleaning after I accepted the offer.
