"Potential not realised through lack of care."

6.0

The location is good and the beds comfortable.

Details let the property down sadly. The hot water tap in the downstairs bathroom did not work so no hot water available. The shower tray in the upstairs bathroom did not drain so water stayed there, making it difficult to use the shower. One of the sauce pans was no longer able to be used and there were no sharp kitchen knives or kitchen rolls. The host left his number to contact but did not respond to either a voicemail message or a text. The property has great potential, but some work needs to be done on it. It might also be advisable to advertise the fact that whoever sleeps in the back bedroom has to go down the stairs to use the downstairs bathroom.

"Would still be worth consideration for a short stay."

7.0

In the area I needed to be near, good base for days out.

Road noise can be an issue, could not seal downstairs window due to missing handle, upstairs shower not draining away properly, no wardrobes upstairs to hang clothes, upstairs toilet seat and sink need attention as well. Rubbish from previous guests left in wood bag outside.

"Basic and needs some TLC"

5.0

Nice layout, towels on bed, comfortable seating area, close to the distilleries

Bathrooms were grubby. No bath even though one is stated on the properties facilities, really disappointed about this. Only a couple blocks of firewood inside although states a bag would be available, had to go and get some. Door very hard to lock and unlock had to use wd40. Living room window’s handle broken off so have to go outside to push it shut. Heating is automatic and came on in the night at a high temperature and made the property extremely stuffy. No blind or curtain in bedroom so we were awoken by the brightness. Contacted host using contact number provided as could not locate the guidebook(supposed to be on coffee table) and was trying to locate a lighter for the fire however no response so had to go and buy a lighter. Cold tap in downstairs bathroom doesn’t work and seems that the radiator in downstairs bedroom is leaking as there’s toilet paper wrapped around it.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage with cosy attention to detail decor. We booked for visiting the Time Spirit restaurant at the Macallan distillery which was a 5min drive up the hill.

"Great value in the heart of Speyside."

8.0

Affordable and easily accessable from the main road with a good parking space. The deck at the front, with access to the cottage, was a good spot to relax later in the evening when traffic died down. The outside space at the back was a better choice earlier as it was sheltered from traffic noise. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms adequate, if a little small. Everything was spotlessly clean on arrival and the kitchen well equipped. For those inclined to walk, I recommend heading up the side road, taking a left onto the old road which leads you to Cragellachie bridge, away from the traffic. The Speyside way is accessible and we enjoyed a great evenings walk to Aberlour and a nice after dinner walk back. About an hour each way.

The traffic is a bit loud in the day and early evening.

"Cosy countryside hideaway, a comfortable stay and a home to return to."

9.0

The accommodation is located outside of the city, close to the farms and nature, which was very much to our liking. The cottage is easily accessible with a small, slightly worn road leading up to its parking spot. Getting the keys was a piece of cake from the key box. The interior, more so than the exterior, has a charming rural aesthetic, creating a cosy, homely atmosphere for the house. There are two bathrooms, one on each floor, which we found very convenient. The kitchen may need an update, including a new kettle and additional tableware, which we believe is essential for a longer stay, but it won't stop you from enjoying a lovely meal that you can make in the kitchen with the additional equipment. The bedrooms are spacious enough for larger luggage, and the beds are very comfortable, just like the other furniture in the house. This place has an incredible amount to offer, and its potential is limitless when we make an effort to nurture it.

Please be aware that the showers have a slow drain, which causes water to accumulate and form a puddle in the shower tray. The water tap in the downstairs bathroom is currently dripping, and while this may not be a major inconvenience for the guests, it's something that would be better to get fixed soon.
