Laxás Cottage

Two rooms next to each other and next to the kitchen (for 4 people) and one which is on the other side of the cottage, where I slept with my fiancé (I like the fact that I didn’t hear my snoring grandma). Perfect I like the rock in front of the door, really sweet

This rustic cottage was a few kilometres out of Blonduos, just off the main road. It was easy to find and very private. The location was picturesque and convenient for an overnight stay. The rooms were small and cosy with very comfortable furniture. The kitchen was also small but well-equipped. We had a very pleasant stay.

All six beds were singles! We would have preferred one of the 3 bedrooms to have a double bed.

Location for what we needed as a family was perfect.

3 small bedrooms with single beds in all of them. The floor in the bathroom was rotten and was very unstable, almost to the point of going through it. The toaster didn’t work and given that it sleeps 6, there were only 4 chairs at the small dining table. It’s advertised as having a hot tub, which it did, however, we received a message saying that we would need to fill it upon our arrival and empty it on departure. We only stayed one night and therefore, didn’t have the opportunity to actually use it. The kitchen only had two hobs and as a family of 5, caused a bit of a problem when cooking. Also didn’t have an oven. The whole place felt tired and a bit dilapidated and could do with a makeover.

Property is located in the middle of a farm land, so it is a bit remote but it would be great for seeing the Northern Lights (there are windows on all 4 sides of the property too). Two of the room sizes are cosy (enough for 2 single beds with a night stand in the middle), there is another double bedroom too. Spacious hallway with a bench and coat hangers for plenty of boots (and a place to sit whilst removing/ putting on boots), coats and luggage space. Kitchen only has 2 stove tops and no oven, but this is fine for those not looking to cook extravagant meals.

We were expecting to use the hot tub for a soak but unfortunately the pipes to fill the hot tub were broken (we were informed a few days before our arrival). We would normally expect an extractor fan in the bathroom but there wasn't one here which made the bathroom humid for the next person.

The scense surrounding the cottage

The tempeture of hot tub was not enough hot. The bedrooms were small.

The cottage is well fit with 6 people since there were 3 rooms with 2 beds in each room. The mattress and pillows were clean and soft. I also like the blanket which can keep me warm all through the night. We could cook Thai food easily using the kitchenette provided. Many thanks.

The water has some natural smell like Geysir Hot Springs. But it did not bother me at all. Just not drinking it.

Fantastic place for a (some) really quiet night.
