Yonemuraya, the well-restored Japanese Showa Style House 米村家

This stay was a real highlight of the trip. The house is traditional but comfortable. There is great attention to detail.. The host is very charming and a wonderful resource about the area. The breakfast each day was simple but delicious. There is convenient parking. The location is great for exploring the castle and the area.

Le guesthouse de Emi est un très bel endroit. La maison est ancienne et très authentique, et l appartement spacieux et très propre. Emi est aux petits soins et très disponible. Comme elle parle bien anglais, nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir à échanger avec elle sur des sujets divers. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l emplacement pratique pour visiter la très sympathique ville de Matsue et ses environs. Merci à Emi pour son accueil exceptionnel !

松江の街の雰囲気にとても良く合う宿と思う。 厳選されたフルーツ一杯の朝食が素晴らしく、朝食をサーブしてくださるオーナーさんとの会話からは、松江・出雲地方への深い愛情が感じられる。 さりげなく毎日置かれるお菓子も上品で美味。

If you're going to Matsue, this is the place to stay! Our host, Emi, was full of information about transportation, places to visit, and where to eat. Fresh, local fruit was plentiful for breakfast, along with delicious bread, butter, and yogurt. The location was convenient in many ways. A bus line stops on the corner, you're easy walking distance to the Castle and many other sites, and it's an inexpensive taxi ride to either train station. In addition, there are numerous restaurants nearby, plus a 7-11 across the street. The guest house itself is very comfortable, a wonderful mix of traditional Japanese style with some Western comforts, including a shower tall enough for my tall family. The futons were big enough, too, and very comfortable! But Emi is the best reason to stay here -- we had a lot of rain during our visit and had to alter some plans. Emi offered suggestions for places to go that made our stay amazing despite the rain. Thank you!!

Everything was great! (As other reviews have mentioned, the stairway is a traditional, steep stairway. We had no trouble, but it is a distinctive feature of the charming guest house.)
