Guesthouse Yoshikawa

The owner is fantastic and very helpful. The bed room was spacious and there's also a living room and balcony. I suggest you take up the offer of breakfast, it is almost ryokan level. Overall, amazing value at this place.

The toilet is in a tiny room and is a bit awkward (though I'm tall-190cm). Note that the guesthouse is above an izakaya managed by the owner. I didn't have any issue though, and it closes early, ~10:30pm.

The area given for us to use was huge and the amenities were great. The food (not included in the price, but was $5 for breakfast) was absolutely delicious and was a huge portion as well.

Much recommended for an authentic Japanese house experience! The host is super nice. We felt at home just as we arrived. We were planning to eat out, but decided to order the set meals as the atmosphere felt so comfy. The fish tasted amazing! Not needing to go out for dinner is a nice perk after a long day of sightseeing.

The stairs are quite steep, but that applies to many Japanese houses. Use the hand railings and be a little careful.

if you want authentic Japan than it doesn’t get better than having a closed ramen shop and upper floor all to yourself. transitional as it comes. 20 mins walk to centre of town which adds to authenticity. not in tourist area. as a solo traveler it suited me fine.

all good. a bit cold when I arrived as they were airing apartment but they sweetly apologised and was able to quickly hear rooms I was in.

Small and cozy. Host is great and very supportive. This is a great place for a short stay and for a Simi traditional style experience.

The bathroom was very small but still did the job.

The room was huge as I was the only guest staying that night. I am not sure how comfortable it would be if more people stayed as the rooms are located on the top floor and I am not sure if the rooms are sold separately or as one unit as that's not made clear on Booking.com. The host is friendly and accommodating.

There's only one toilet, which is fine if it's just you, and the shower room is on ground floor, and it gets pretty chilly in the winter, as the windows are left open. It's also tricky to find as it's not listed on Google. A word of advice: if you are having problems finding the place, search for Bar Cotton Club as that IS listed on Google and it is on the corner of the same street in which the guest house is located. It's a 3 - 4 minute walk down the same, small street. The guest house is on the right. It also serves food and drink, and so can be a bit noisy, but it closes pretty early so it shouldn't disturb your sleep.
