Private and Perfect for Families, Rotorua Escape

The location was in a quiet suburban location.

The property was dirty. Vents caked with years of dirt and grime. The windows looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. Door handles fell off. Cracks in the property. Significant water damage in both bathrooms. Wall paper peeling. We arrived late in the evening and went straight to bed. In the morning I thought we had experienced an earthquake when I saw the internal damage. Massive crack in the ceilings and along skirting boards and cornices. The property could be beautiful, but it requires a significant investment in maintenance. Couch has sunk and two pillows are placed there to hide the damage. The owners request that shoes be removed, which is fine as the carpet looks like it has been replaced, but the rest of the house is in dire need of a building inspection and a full clean. No ceiling fans, only pedestal fans in the bedroom which in the December heat meant the bedrooms were very hot and stuffy.

It rained our first night there and a leak was found in the ceiling in the kitchen. Not a small leak either, and by the looks of the ceiling it wasn't the first time. Also, weren't pre warned about the ants. Left my Powerade on the bench between exploring and came back to ants everywhere. If I'd known I would have made sure it was out away. Also, had a few cochroaches. Would suggest the house get sprayed to prevent this in future. Also there wasn't enough plates for my family, we had to go buy some, which we left for the next users.

Location.

The TV didn't work and the landlord didn't know how to work the TV. The couch was broken. The house wasn't very clean.

Location was perfect not busy or loud, a lot of space tucked away down the back. Nice house, fast to warm up, cosy for the kids.

No tv or movies, had to watch on our lap too

Perfect location as we spent most of the day at the International Stadium, only 7 minutes away!

There was no shower curtain in the ensuite bathroom, so had to wipe up the excess water!

The shower was leaking badly in both bathrooms causing the floor to be soaking wet. There was also lollies and and rubbish found on the sofa.

I call this house don't judge a book by its cover!! Just because the cover looks good doesn't mean the start middle and ending is good. This house is not a good read. We were sent house rules from the owners which were abit far fetched. So when I arrived I done my own inspection on the house which didn't quite align with house rules sent. We'll start with the tv that didn't work properly ( They did fix ) non existence of vacuuming, Both bathrooms leaking water which they said a plumber was coming to fix the week after. Looking at past feedback this has been like this since beginning of last year. Extracter fan in kitchen dirty, We had rain one of the days we were there and it started leaking from the kitchen ceiling all over the bench cell phone chargers and my boys cell phone, ants on the kitchen bench. Outdoor furniture needs to be thrown out. Before we checked out we left the house better then what it was before we arrived. I've messaged them with no reply. I'm looking at getting advice from consumers advice. Worst accommodation we've stayed at to date.

Spacious. Comfortable beds. Ice in the freezer.

Outside the front door it was really slippery - the footpath needs pressure washing. The building was tired and unloved. We couldn’t watch the TV. We couldn’t work the aircon / heating. The one fan didn’t oscillate.
