Beach Folly - Whitianga

The cottage was very nicely furnished.

I wish I had checked the location on Google maps. We were shocked to find it was in an industrial area facing a garage door and horrified to find it was 3 doors down from a nightclub which was noisy until 1.30 a.m.! I was a bit worried for our safety and definitely for my car with all the drunken revellers leaving the club. One of them relieved himself right next to my car. Providing earplugs for people staying on the weekend would really help. Then the following morning the church next door was playing music and had people arriving in the car park right next to the bedroom window. We couldn't open the lounge curtains to chill in the lounge with the light coming in because passersby could see right in. We suggest investing in some sheer curtains for future guests. We couldn't find a dryer to dry our towels. It would be great to at least have a heated towel rail. This is not the right place for the relaxing weekend getaway we were really hoping to enjoy.

The hosts had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable. While not in a residential neighborhood, the location is minutes from everything in town. Easy parking.

Good proximity to local shops and restaurants/amenities.

Very well appointed, charming cottage - the only thing we didn’t like was that the bathroom is too small, with a tiny basin and no surfaces for storing toiletries. Everything else was great. The location is a bit unusual - in a side street off the main shopping street - but it is quiet and within walking distance to the main supermarket.

Perfect location to enjoy Whitianga and the area!

Lovely area at the back for sitting out. No aircon but the ceiling fan was effective when sleeping. Nice and spacious and well equipped. Owner contactable and very helpful. Nice touch leaving the spades for Hot Water Beach which is a must do! After reading other reviews we were a little sceptical about the noise from the bar but this didn’t bother us at all.

Beautifully renovated “cottage” with heaps of room and a lovely outside sitting area. The lounge room was spacious with good couches and chairs while the bed was super comfortable. Kitchen had everything you needed. Weber BBQ was a bonus and the washing facilities well used. Owen welcomed us after arrival and was very helpful.

Bathroom could have been a little larger
