Beautiful old village house in a fantastic location within the city walls. A lovely garden with several sitting areas, comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. Raphael was a fantastic host, providing food essentials on our arrival, advice for our questions and dropped us at the train station when we left. Thank you

The weather was rather wet and the house felt a little damp.

This is undoubtedly the best place I have ever stayed in. I have travelled the world many times and this was remarkable. Rafael (the host), picked us up outside the walled city and drove us to the house. He also took us back to our car when we left. He was friendly and courteous and extremely helpful. The house is beautiful- it belonged to his grandfather and has been lovingly restored. It was comfortable and spacious. Beds are comfortable. Everything is clean. The outside area is delightful with three different levels. Rafael supplied food such as bread, milk, fruit, cheese, ham, eggs. I cannot say how amazing this place was. The town of Obidos is stunning. We walked the wall at sunset and dined in beautiful local places each night. It’s busy through the day with tourists, but quiet at night. It’s well worth staying inside the walls- you feel like you are living in magical medieval world. From Peta, Newcastle, Australia. I also stayed at Rafael's house and absolutely loved it too. As described, the house and town and host are all 10/10! I particularly enjoyed staying in a real house inside the walls. Rafael is the perfect host, with perfect communication, help with luggage transport and he even gave us a gift of the local cherry liqueur! The house was very clean and beautifully and thoughtfully organized. Touches of family history are found throughout the property and you feel part of the Obidos community.

Everything was wonderful. Be prepared to walk from the parking lot to the property inside the castle with your luggage. Communicate with the owner and he is happy to drive you and your luggage to the property from the parking lot.

The property was well Located and had everything we required for our overnight stay Rafael met us and explained everything to us. He provided a lovely breakfast.

The beds were a little uncomfortable. But nothing too bad.

We loved everything about this experience. The house is a beautiful representation of Rafael's family's hard work and fits well in the historic town. It's perfectly located within the medieval walls of Óbidos, this makes it incredibly easy to explore the town and experience the trainquility once the day-trippers leave. Rafael is a perfect host and made us feel super welcome on check-in. He picked us and our big luggage up from the carpark and chauffeured us to the house, saving us from the cobblestones. He provided all the local tips for the area, along with enough fresh groceries to make ourselves lunch on arrival.

Nothing - everything was perfect!

Rafael is a rare host - he is exceptionally hospitable and welcoming and went above and beyond meeting us for our arrival, showing us where to park, and helping to deliver us and our luggage into the walled town. As a family with two young children met with cobblestone streets (less stroller friendly), this was extremely helpful. It really added to our experience to have Rafael's personal warmth & hospitality. The home was pristine in cleanliness and was well stocked. It was so fun to hear the history of the home, having previously been Rafael's grandfather's. He is passionate about the home and has clearly put immense care into it - this really made our stay special. After travelling in Porto and before Lisbon with young children, the enclosed large garden/courtyard was a special treat and a gem of our stay.

For families with young children, may be aware that the stairs are a bit steep - with a mobile 1-2 year old this may be a bit stressful, but we felt our 3 year old could follow our guidance re using caution.

It was an amazing stay at Rafael’s house. Rafael is a wonderful host. It was super clean in a house and very cozy - you feel like at home.

For us it was absolutely ok as our child is almost 5 years old but families with smaller children should take into account that are two stairs in house.

Rafael was extremely helpful. It's a UNESCO place so getting in and out is naturally difficult but he managed the process with ease for us. He brought our luggage in and out of the area and went above and beyond with what he provided us during our stay. The place itself is in a great location within Óbidos, close to everything you need to see but far enough to avoid the noise of the main street. The place itself was amazing and I would highly recommend it. Wish we could've stayed longer!
