Stodham House with Minster views!

Great property and great location

Beautiful house in the perfect location. We enjoyed every moment and would definitely stay at the house again. The view of the Minster from the front of the house was stunning. Having a parking space was helpful as parking in York is so expensive. The house was spotless and beautifully decorated and was a pleasure to stay in. The hosts provided a lot of very useful information.and were extremely helpful and accommodating.

There was some traffic noise at the front of the house, but as the house is so central in the city, this was expected.

Property had all the facilities, tastefully decorated for Christmas, with a lovely tree in the dinning room. Property was easy to find, easy to get access to, once in the front, luggage easy to transfer from garage through the back. Excellent views of the City walls and Minster. Separate bathroom for downstairs accommodation, making this self contained for separate family and upper accommodation with jack/jill bathroom OK. Location excellent, only couple mins walk to Monk Bar and into the city!!

Property was located on a busy road, which you can hear inside the property (even during winter). Nothing you can do, as the compromise was a lovely property & location to explore the City of York.

Great location just outside the walls. Close to the supermarket. The family spaces (dining room and living room) were both a good size and very comfortable.

We didn't appreciate that the downstairs shower room had to be accessed via the bunk bed bedroom, rather than a separate shower room that both could access. This made things quite awkward for my mother and father in law (in their 80s) to utilise the shower in the morning, or the toilet during the night. We try to avoid them having to use stairs as much as possible. To be honest, if I had realised this was the case I would not have booked the house.

It's a lovely house in an absolutely cracking location - really close to the city centre, just a couple of minutes' walk to Monk Bar. The house is very comfy and welcoming, with very good facilities - decent galley kitchen, good and large dining room, lovely sitting room, and pleasant and sizeable bedrooms with decent beds. Useful wet room on the ground floor and nicely done Jack and Jill shower room on the top floor. The hosts have been wonderful - very helpful and accommodating, plus some lovely welcoming touches. We rate them very, very highly.

There is not much not to like, but WiFi coverage / Internet was a bit spotty - sometimes not working very well.

Location was great, lovely minster views and minutes walk to central York. Local Indian Viceroy was delicious. Lovely selection of games and books to enjoy.

Main road was noisy especially for the downstairs bedroom, it has certain areas in need of an update.. front door, hall & stairs carpet.. a little quirky layout and was not as clean as we expected, lots of cobwebs, dusty dressing tables and cabinets and the downstairs bedroom certainly needed a good thorough clean. Middle floor had been modernised and where we spent most of our time.
