Kandy Fortress

Host was available instantly on the phone before arrival and after landing at property . This made the differance. Host is fine lady , smiling lady ; my family become very good freind of HOST

Every thing was fine ; we suggested to keep OVEN in the Kitchen ; that's the only improvement

Room was spacious and clean and a nice quiet area close to town. Host is a wonderful woman who will do anything to help you enjoy your stay.

Great owner! Comfortable bed, big and bright room. Hot water, good pressure, very clean. Complimentary tea. Kettle, glasses and water in the room. One of the best rooms we had in Sri Lanka! It might be tricky to find it but the view from the window is worth it.

A bit far from the town and non of tuk tuks wanted to go up there.

It was a local quiet neighborhood which was very nice. A lot of space, very clean, comfy bed and extremely friendly host. Very good value for money. We can only recommend!!

As other people say, it is on a hill. But if you walk down to city center it’s only like 25min which is super. It can be a bit of a workout walking back up tho

I love everything about my stay in Kandy Fortress and feel fortunate I have met Kumari, one of the nicest people on the island. She is people's person, will do anything to make your stay memorable in her happy home. Love her cooking, positivity and her attitude.

My stay was cut short but I definitely coming back.

We stayed in the one bedroom house which was very comfortable, clean and spacious - it also came with some tea and a kettle which was nice in the mornings. The hostess was very sweet, she brought us biscuits and bananas when we arrived. The bathroom was very modern and it had hot water. Be careful with the moneys and opening windows, we had one climb into our room. The view was spectacular as the location was more in hills of Kandy than the center, but this meant that it was very quiet and peaceful. It was also located on the side of the sunrise so if you’re lucky, you could get a gorgeous view. Additionally, we had to change the dates by one night and the host was very accommodating with this at no extra charge for the inconvenience.

The location is a bit far, it is a 20/25 minute walk, up/down hills and rocky stairs. At night it was quite difficult as it was very dark, we had to use head torches to see. The hostess offered us tickets to see a typical Kandyan dance which we went to see but later had it added to our final payment (in hindsight we should have known this would be at an additional cost - lkr2000 each). Personally, i don’t know if it was worth seeing (we were in a very crowded auditorium right at the back and could barely see the stage) but it is part of the areas tradition.
