Beautiful traditional house. Amazing hospitality from the hosting family. Thank you for celebrating my mother on her birthday on our short visit to Kyoto.

Nothing could have been better

I don't often write reviews, but I will happily make an exception for Jeguiya. I can not fault this accommodation and I can not speak more highly of the divine hosts - a loving extended family who not only ensured our time in this city was supremely comfortable - with beautifully spacious and impeccable authentic lodgings (dreamlike bedding, luxury amenities in the bathroom) - but also convenient thanks to a stellar location walking distance to many vibrant shopping and dining areas. Every question was answered with grace, intelligent conversations were enjoyed in bonus car trips to at least one main tourist attraction, assistance was speedily provided when local knowledge and contacts was unexpectedly required, and warm smiles were abundant. Thank you beautiful family for making our time in your fair city memorable.

As far as accommodation goes, Jeugiya Inn has it all - excellent location, a beautifully restored machiya with all the modern conveniences, comfort, space and impeccable cleanliness. What sets it apart from most is the genuine hospitality and warmth of the host family, Seiichiro, Masumi and Bunichi Muta. From the moment we arrived, we knew that we were in for something very special. We were served the best strawberry mochi, homemade by Masumi. We learnt about the history of the inn then given a map of the city with recommendations of the sights to see in Kyoto.   Each morning, Masumi prepared a breakfast that was not just a meal but a work of art - easily some of the best food we enjoyed during our entire trip to Japan. Seiichiro’s kindness stood out as he helped plan our day each morning, drove us to our first destination, pointed out important sites and eateries along the way, and even dropped us off at the train station after we checked out.   Kyoto, with its rich history and beauty, became our favourite city in Japan, and Jeugiya Inn was undoubtedly the highlight of our visit. While the city’s stunning sights left a lasting impression, it was the time spent at Jeugiya Inn that we will remember most. The Muta family’s hospitality raised the bar for accommodations everywhere. Every place we stay from now on will be compared to the wonderful experience at Jeugiya Inn. After four days and three nights, we were genuinely sad to leave Jeugiya Inn, but we hope of one day reuniting with the wonderful Muta family. Their warmth and hospitality will forever be remembered.

The owners were wonderful. Very attentive and showed us around on the first day. The location was the best.

The place is spacious and clean. The hosts are very kind, giving us a short tour of the surrounding area, recommending good places to visit and even offering to escort us for far away locations. They are also very friendly, and we were able to delightful conversations to learn a bit more about the local culture while also sharing a bit of our own. We had breakfast on one of the days, and it was delectable, with wonderful presentation, quantity and variety to boot. They even provided extra kelp to accompany the additional white rice we requested, they are very thoughtful indeed. Jeugiya is hands down the best accommodation we put up at in Japan!

We loved our 2 nights there and it was wonderful waking up to breakfast and a surprise cake for my birthday! Great facilities, fabulous family, very good at communicating in English. Thank you for everything! And also the drop off at Kyoto station on our departure was so helpful.

THE BESTTT PROPERTY ON BOOKING.COM. It was a beautiful Ryokan home owned by a cute family of three. Super caring and accomodating to us. All three provided us with the best hospitality we have ever experienced. It felt as though we were at home. Definitely a one of a kind experience. The Mother had prepared fresh mochi sweets for us and the the Father took us around Kyoto and explained the history of the area as well as taking the best photographs! The son was super attentive with our needs. I hope people can choose this property and experience the TRUE AUTHENTIC JAPANESE EXPERIENCE. The home is super beautiful words cannot explain. 10000/10 from me and my sister.

Real Machiya experience as compared with many other recently built one by China money. Hospitality of the owner family. Space with huge Japanese tatami rooms and garden.

You can experience real old Machiya therefore, the building does not have modern isolation for temperature control. If weather is extremely hot or cold, air conditioning will not be effective as compared with morden buildings. Although when we stayed, no issue at all ( outside day temp 23 degree, night 13 degree) The accommodation is like home stay. Hence do not expect five star hotel facilities, like space for storing suit cases, most modern hairdryer, although most facilities are better equipped than four star hotels like auto open toilet, wooden bathtub, towel quality, amenity quality (L’occitane), beddings (Futon). The beddings were not put away during day time like normal Ryokan. So when you come back from excursion, futons were lying there with redone beddings. We stayed as three people so too many futons were lying around. If you stay as a couple, I guess they will put two futons in one room and another room will be left alone with table and Japanese chairs like a suite room plan.
