The hosts were amazing! They really made our stay special and went above and beyond. Highly recommend.

All of the perfect ratings and reviews here are 100% accurate - this was not only the best time we had in Japan but one of the best experiences of our lives. My wife and I stayed here one night and the only thing I regret is not booking it for one or two additional nights. Seiichiro-san and his wonderful family were so warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. Seiichiro-san personally walked us 20 minutes across town just to give a recommendation for dinner and told us the history of Kyoto. We had great conversations with the family and by the end felt a genuine bond with them - something rare for foreigners travelling to Japan. The breakfast was the best meal we had in Japan, and the inn was absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable. The modern renovations/additions they added as far as the shower/bathroom were extremely well-done while still maintaining the traditional feel of the Ryokan. We were so sad to leave but we will definitely come back to Jeugiya!

Absolutely wonderful place. Great room. Great location (the best). Great food (breakfast was amazing) I highly recommend anyone that can afford it to stay here at least 1 night. It's a whole experience in on itself Plus, the couple that attends the place is as nice as they come. Really happy with my stay here

Our stay at Jeugiya felt like a magical dream as soon as we arrived, and is truly the best place either of us have ever stayed. Everything about Jeugiya exceeded our expectations, but ultimately it was our incredibly kind hosts that made Jeugiya so special! Our beautifully traditional room with its own private garden blew us away; it was a quiet oasis in the heart of Gion and sleeping there each night felt like being transported back in time to another era. We loved coming back after a day of sightseeing to chill in our Yukatas, or to have a soak in our gorgeous bath overlooking the garden. The breakfasts were like having a meal at a fine dining restaurant each morning, except from the comfort of our room. Masumi-san is an incredibly talented cook and each dish she made (of which there were many) was exquisite - the best food we've had in Japan and even better than the fancy kaiseki meal we had in Kyoto! She even invented some of the recipes so we got to try some completely new food. Seii-chiro-san was also so kind to give us a lift to Arashiyama one day and drive us to the station when we left, and we loved talking to him and his son Bunichi-san, who both speak English and are super warm and generous people. We felt totally welcomed by the whole family. Thank you so much to our hosts Seiichiro-san, Masumi-san, Bunichi-san and Mami-san for making our stay unforgettable. We already can't wait to come back!

Jeugiya was by far our best stay in Japan and in itself has become a treasured memory! Everything in the property from its location, beautiful rooms, comfortable layout, inside garden, spacious bathroom, to all the little details is there to make your stay special. Authenticity of the interior and cleanliness of the property deserves a special mention. Breakfasts were worthy of a fine dining restaurant, we really felt like we were welcomed like treasured friends. Seisan, Masumisan, Bunsan and his family went above and beyond to answer any of our questions and help out with any of our requests. The location of the property is on a picturesque and quiet street right in the heart of the town! We are grateful to have had this experience, it has certainly made our stay in Kyoto! Thank you to the family 🙏

The family who were our hosts! They were the kindest, most lovely people who greeted us upon arrival and leaving, gave us recommendations, fed us the most delicious traditional Japanese breakfast every morning, and were the absolute highlight of the trip. The beds were also comfortable and the location was excellent.

I stayed at Jeugiya with my two kids for a few days. The house is beautiful, close to many of the major attractions in Kyoto and to convenient public transportation. It has everything you need - very comfortable futons and pillows, a great wooden bathtub and a lovely garden. We travel a lot and very rarely write reviews, but had to do it this time because I’ve never had this level of care and attention in a guest house. The family is adorable, the kindest people I met in a long time. They really went out of their way for us. Sei-san even drove us to arashiyama one day and to kyoto station the day we left. We are very grateful to them and hope to be able to stay at Jeugiya again some day. If you need a place to stay in Kyoto, you are up for an outstanding experience! ありがとうございます Jeugiya family!

We enjoyed the beautiful and comfy house. It was a wonderfully maintained traditional machiya in a super location. The breakfast was amazing. The host family looked after us incredibly well. They were always looking out for our needs and ready to help in every way. They even drove us to the bamboo forest on a rainy day and took us to the station upon our departure. We couldn't thank them enough.
