GBAmazing unique property with excellent facilities right in the centre of Alston. Fabulous.
The cleanliness. The sink was filthy, the cooker needs a deep clean, the toaster was rusty and the kettle was dirty. Looks clean but just felt a little grubby. This let the place down as it had good quality fixtures and fittings.
GBThe cottage has a rustic feel, and the bathroom was clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a small supermarket nearby.
There could be a greater attention to detail for cleanliness, although our experience may be a one-off. This could include hoovering cobwebs near the ceiling for all rooms and corridors, and thoroughly wiping all surfaces, including the hood in the kitchen. People with asthma might struggle. It could be an idea to have a stool in the living room to put the feet up on, and to have some netting in the living room to provide some privacy when the shutters are open. An inexpensive welcome pack that includes something like some scones and a pint of milk would be a bonus.

The place was dirty. The stove had defective burners, the oven was dirty and needs a clean, the glassware smudgy, the crockery dirty, the cutlery broken and haphazard. We felt as if we had to disinfect everything before using, and we did. The entrance was full of weeds and litter. The bath mats should be retired, also the towels. There was no tea towel (minor), the utility room had several types of trash in there - bottles, bin bags, a bucket full of dust etc. Toss the old fogie ornaments and bric brack please. Clean those oily dodgy baking trays. Throw away the stove and keep the new one clean.
GBLovely cottage. Good shower and it would be a great base for a longer stay. Very central location and parking was no problem right outside.
We arrived late and a cup of tea would have been great. There were tea bags but a little milk would have been a great addition. However the shop opens late, so all was well.

The place felt dusty, cobwebs in corners, tumble dryer was running on arrival full of laundry, bedroom cupboard door jammed open (inside cupboard untidy/messy with laundry and cleaning products). Not huge things I know but we came away to relax.
GBHosts were quick and replying and had all cooking facilities.
Did not feel cosy, felt dusty. Living room could do with some more sofas or a foot rest to be comfortable. Bed was very sunken on one side.
