Alpine Chalets Hakuba

It was close to ski bus routes and had basic kitchen amenities, making it possible to cook meals when we didn’t feel like eating out.

This was not our first stay at Alpine Chalets having frequented Hakuba on a number of years. We used to Love going there for the convenience, immaculately clean rooms and most importantly, the wonderful staff. All that has now changed. The new owners don’t seem to give a stuff about the guests. They were surprisingly rude when asked for help. We were traveling with small children, and the trip was made so much harder. They previously offered a courtesy trip to help guests get to the accommodation from the train/bus and the local supermarket… all gone now. Getting a taxi is near impossible on busy days, so on the day we had to leave, we were left lugging heavy luggage through snowy streets with small children in tow to the bus station. The reception has been moved off site, so we never actually saw anyone running the place. We rang them a couple of times for various things, and when they finally picked up the phone, they were unhelpful, vague and seemed almost annoyed to be contacted. Add to all this that the standards of cleanliness have also slipped since our last stay. We are sad to say we won’t be going back, because it was once a very enjoyable place to stay.

Good location, close to echoland., we had a car. Very clean and comfortable facilities.

Bus stop for Gorya/47 is right outside, but there are only limited buses and can get full There are a few local food options and cherry pub is a 10-15 min walk

Mattress and pillows could be updated It’s a 10-15 walk to the main restaurants, which can be hard if the weather is bad

Great little chalet, quiet location but close enough to echoland bars etc

Party walls were a little thin

No frills but everything you need for a nice stay. Comfortable & warm. Facilities to cook a basic meal. Close sub 10 min walk into town.

You have to walk through one bedroom to get into the second bedroom. We didn’t mind, but some people might.

Large and spacious , private and quiet .

Previous guests didn’t clean dishes well - so had to redo . Fireplace smoked whole house out : stopped using 10 minutes after lighting a fire

Location is good for our ski at Happo One.

Difficult to find the house in a dark snowy weather. The photo provided via email was not of good help
