The Old Forge - an "Heritage' house

We had a very relaxing evening listening to vinyl collection. A big house with a lot of history and character. Perfect place to disconnect!

The night was cold. In some places you can see that the house requires extra care, like wallpaper in the bedroom.

It was such a comfortable stay at this beautiful house

Facts, that were acceptable - Wifi worked very well - Washing machine was acceptable and worked - Cooking stove very clean We had a booking for two nights, but couldn‘t stay there a minute. We re-booked our stay and reached out to booking.com. They managed for us to get our whole stay refunded, which was nice from booking.com, but also the owners of the house.

When we arrived and opened the door, we were overwhelmed by the heat and stale air. We instantly wanted to open the windows, however, most windows couldn‘t be opened and were covered by spiders and spider webs. The whole house looked like the owners left to move somewhere else, but left everything they didn‘t want behind. ‚Heritage‘ would and could be wonderful and fine if looked after, however, it seemed the house is totally neglected. Facts, that didn‘t work out at all - the toilet and the bathroom were in - what seemed like - an attached shed - The shower had a sign saying that you have to let it run for 30 seconds until hot water comes (and that there‘s plenty of hot water) —> we let the shower run for 3 minutes and didn‘t get hot water so no showering for us. Although there was hot water available in the sink. - When we arrived the toilet was dirty and still had stool traces from previous guests - The planket was stained, the beds completely saggy - There were two fridges - a wee one in the kitchen, a bigger one in the attached shed —> the wee one wasn‘t cold at all, the bigger one was completely dirty - Everywhere in the corners were spider webs and dead insects, we even had cockroaches crawling out behind the couch (that was on the veranda) - There were notices everywhere about which appliances should not be combined in which way and most of the sockets didn't work at all - the attached shed, which you were forced to go into, was full of paint and varnish cans, which can be dangerous with children - the ironing board and the cleaning rags were disgusting - One drinking glass also still had the dirt from previous guests - the furniture was mostly stained and worn

Everything was really clean. A bit far from everything but we wanted to be close to our hike the next day so that was perfect

Mattresses were pretty used, not my best night sleep. Only slept there one night so not too bad

It's a very old house , got the mouldy smell and the bed is not supportive and not comfy.

Walking out the back gate to go to dinner Firewood for my husband to chop Vinyl records galore

Pillows uncomfortable

Location is perfect Privacy & nice quiet area, very cosy , love the heritage of the house , it had everything we needed

Maybe a bit more detail in the housekeeping in the kitchen area Left food in cupboards could be sorted & suggest a clean up in cupboard under the sink area
