The Old Forge - an "Heritage' house

Loved the location, loved the info on the homes previous owner, loved the records, loved the fireplace

Just abit too cold, perhaps an aircon upgrade would help

昨年泊まって、薪ストーブの楽しさから、今年も泊まりました。 テカポ湖、マウントドブソンスキー場等にも近く、少しだけスキーも楽しめました。 フェアリーの、他の宿泊施設より楽しいし、コスパも良いと思います。7人くらいまでは泊まれる家です。

薪ストーブの手入れは主人がしてくれましたが、燃え尽きるのが早くて結構大変そうでした。でも、いやではなさそうでした。 また、ストーブが消えると寒くなります。 バスルーム、トイレはいつも寒いです。

We came for the Mackenzie Half so this place was perfect location-wise. We loved having the two fires which quickly warmed the house up

A higher pressure in the shower would have been good, but that may not be do-able, not a deal breaker

Lovely old cottage that felt like my Nan's house. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you needed to cook a meal. There was a shelf with left over salt, pepper and odds and ends that helped with cooking while travelling. The bed was comfortable (the BEST on our trip) and warm with the electric blanket. Absolutely loved the fireplaces and there was plenty of wood. Fabulous location to walk to anywhere in Fairlie, but decided to dine in due to the facilities on offer. Just a magic stay!

Great location being so close to the bakery. Not that that was our reason for booking the Old Forge. The house was old and cold, but once the fires were cranked then it was a cosy little home. If you're happy not having 5* accom, but having a 5* experience for the way things were, then this place is for you. Great hosts too. Wish we could've stayed longer. next time!

The heater model used in the bathroom has been recalled for safety reasons. It has caused house fires so should be replaced. The fire in the lounge didn't put out that much heat. The rear bedroom didn't have a heater.

Old character house. Old vinyl record player. Board games for the kids

Shower needs new shower head. A simple heat transfer fan to vent into other rooms from fireplaces, to heat up bedrooms. As a fire fighter, I'm against having so many power leads and multi boards running lights, electric blankets, tvs , jug, microwave etc.

Was in a good location and lots of space. Provided all the facilities you could need for your stay. The fire is lovely and plenty of wood provided.

When we arrived there was lots of dead and alive flies in the main bedroom, including all over the bed and ceiling which meant we couldn’t use that room. It was obvious the property hadn’t been checked/cleaned since the last people had been there. Reached out to the individual that the book stated to contact regarding the issue and received no reply. We were there for a week.
