The Old Forge - an "Heritage' house

Location to the town centre was good. Had dinner at the cafe in town which was lovely. Then of course the bakery for breakfast.

Rustic maybe but needing some tlc definitely. I understand that historic homes are desirable but this home could do with a makeover.

如果觉得热门城市房价太高，可以折中选择费尔里的这家民宿，小镇安静而且去著名景点都只有半小时车程，房子有比较长的历史了，但内部设施齐全，还可以体验壁炉生火，屋子后面有劈柴小库，我们带着孩子用壁炉烤了红薯～女儿非常非常喜欢这个房子，并在木柴上画了自画像和留言纸条给房主！中间因为生火遇到困难，房主还请她的邻居过来帮助我们，第二天可爱的邻居还为我们送来樱桃，真的很爱这里的风土人情～

除了房子时间比较久，其他都很好～但这也是它的珍贵之处

Great location, good linen, lots of books and music. Great info in the info book e.g it take a while for the shower to run hot. Very old but comfy and easy to stay in.

More power points would be a huge benefit.

房子很经典，也很有历史，适合家庭旅行。房东保留了很多黑胶唱片，可以怀旧。壁炉可以生火，既保暖又体验当地生活情趣。 同时，房子的位置很好，超市就在附近。离旅游景点也很方便，山顶观星驾车20分钟，到Lake Tekapo 30分钟，Mt Cook 近两小时。

热水系统不知道被谁关掉了，房东很快派人上门处理。不过整个水桶烧热要3-4小时。 还有钢琴可以弹，音准需要调一下。

Pretty good location, enjoyed the history of the place.

Good amount of room and more like staying at a family

Good amount of space and more like staying in a family crib /batch than a motel as had use of board games + music + dvds

Its not for everyone but i like the experience staying there

We live in a very old house back home, so we loved that this too was an old house, with all of the character and warmth (not literal) that this provides. My son adored the record collection and played different ones for hours. Our children loved the board games and this kept them amused for hours also. Excellent book and DVD collection also. There was plenty of room and beds for a family of 5. The bedding was spotless and the electric blankets on most beds were very appreciated even in summer. Wood fires and heaters and reverse cycle aircons also kept us all warm, although it did take some time for the house to properly warm up. Pretty good cooking facilities. We were appreciative of the oil and salt and tea and coffee etc provided to help with cooking. The location nearby the (famous and award winning) pie shop was excellent. Half an hour easy drive from Lake Tekapo. Simple instructions on how to get into the property.

Everything needs a thorough deep clean. We found that all of the cooking equipment, utensils, glasses, crockery and cutlery all needed to be washed fully before use as they all had a layer of oil and grime on them. They ask you to use the place mats to stop damage to the table, but they are also dirty, so not exactly encouraging. The hot water in the shower gets there eventually but I think the shower head needs a clean out or something as water pressure on the hot is pretty limited. After leaving the property (in excellent condition, and exactly as we found it, mind you) we received a strange and rather rude message from the owner stating that we left the house in a “terrible mess” and how disrespectfully we treated the house. This was via their cleaner, as the owner themselves doesn’t live nearby the property. After stating that this simply could not be true, and detailing how we had actually left the property (in excellent condition), the owner simply stated that they would not be discussing the matter any further. No indication that their cleaners may not have been telling the whole truth (sounded to me that the cleaners were trying to ask for more money for a “longer” cleaning time than actually happened on potentially public holiday pay rates). Left us with a very bad taste in our mouths after having a lovely time at the property.
