"Great little cottage"

The cottage is lovely & cosy with everything you need. The location is great at the top of the hill near castle walls. Good real ale pubs & close to all amenities. Loved our stay.

"Excellent value accommodation right in the centre of Lincoln city"

8.0

Location is excellent. Close to Lincoln High Street, the Cathedral and other sights. Four Paws loved the proximity to the nearby park. Parking onsite, although a little bit of a squeeze was very welcome and enabled easy loading/unloading. Property felt secure. Thank you to Leah for her attentive messages.

"Perfect house for a stay in Lincoln"

10.0

It was a quirky old property and had everything we needed. The parking at the back was tight but doable (we have a Citroen Cactus). However we walked almost everywhere. There’s a car park directly across the road so larger cars could park there. The house was so warm we never used the log fire. The kitchen had good facilities. The double bed was very comfortable. All our queries were quickly answered by our hosts. Bailgate has plenty of eating out places. We can recommend the Duke William Hotel. There’s so many independent shops in Lincoln. I could have spent a fortune! Lots of places to visit too. We walked to Saxilby along the Fossdyke canal (last mile is on the road - boring, but a necessity), after a cake and coffee we caught the train back to Lincoln.

We liked everything. The property is not for people with mobility issues as the stairs are steep.

"One of the best places i've ever stayed"

9.0

The property has a ye olde charm to it, i've stayed at similar places in York, Rye and a handful of others and the pictures on here (Booking.com) are what you get, very cozy, small but with everything you need for a visit to Lincoln. Hosts were perfect, the kind of hosts who we never saw but knew would be there in an instant if we needed them. Communication was spot on and they seem a lovely couple. There is a very informative welcome pack with a small booklet on some of the history of Lincoln which I enjoyed reading through too. Location could not have been more perfect, big carpark opposite but there is space for a car in the garden though a large car would need the carpark. Lincoln is full of history, pubs and restaurants, next door is a pub, then there is the entrance to the castle (which from 10am you can just walk through the castle free of charge into the main streets beyond) and then next to this entrance is a nice Indian restaurant, over the road attached to the carpark is a hotel with a cafe for breakfasts, the opposite side is a house with a corner shop opposite and another pub just round the corner... back to the house it was nicely decorated, wood revealed floors and internal doors to match, small bathroom with a shower, myself and a friend who stayed aren't exactly slim but we found it perfect, no problems on that front. Kitchen had all we needed and living room was comfy. Heating was controlled by the hosts or on a timer but we were never cold. Will most definately stay again. My friend stayed in the double bed room while I had bottom bunk, i'm 6ft tall so was hoping my feet wouldn't be sticking out of the bottom, but I fit snuggly and only bumped my head when I woke in the night and forgot I wasn't in kansas anymore... beds were very comfy and very clean.

There is very little wrong with this place, mostly things out of control of the hosts. There is lots of extraneous noise, traffic and the pub next door being the main culprits. We stayed there midweek and the hosts had come and put one of the wheelie bins out, it had been placed right outside the front door which although not a problem for us as we used the rear entrance instead we did have a bit of a "discussion" with a woman complaining about the wheelie bin blocking the path and so she, and everyone else had to walk into the road, however there is nowhere else for the bin to go, which I pointed out to her. Again something not in the hosts control, like I say they were great hosts. The only thing in their control could be to get a bigger tv, I have poor eyesight so couldn't really see the screen, but perhaps they have had problems with people spending what I spent on staying there and then nicking a tv which is more expensive than the cost to stay there.

"A fantastic bolt hole for a short stay in a great city!"

10.0

The location was superb - you're right next to the castle and a very short walk from the (wonderful) old town :) We loved the opportunity to use the log burner during a chilly couple of evenings (though the radiators kicked in every night, keeping the cottage lovely and cosy) and it was a huge bonus to be able to park for free at the cottage (though it is tight so only worth attempting if you're a confident driver!) I also really appreciated both hairdryer and straighteners in the bedroom, and there was plenty of loo roll which makes a nice change!! The owners' communication was excellent, with plenty of information on both the cottage and the local area.

The mattress was too soft for me, and meant that you kept rolling into the middle of the bed unless the other person sticks tight to their side of the bed! Shame, as it was otherwise comfortable. Also, I hate white towels - they're so impractical - but this is obviously personal to me.
