Old Barrel Store - Old Town. Parking & Garden

The location was perfect.

The bathroom requires a good deep clean. The shower unit was covered in grim and the tiles around the shower were particularly dirty.

A lovely, well located cottage in the heart of Margate. The hosts had clearly put a lot of thought into their guests’ stay e.g providing a pint of milk, a loaf of bread and some eggs on our arrival, plus things were labelled and easy to find and there was a guest book where previous guests were invited to give recommendations on places to eat and things to do.

It took a while to heat the cottage on our first day but was then snug and cosy. Would suggest the hosts consider adding a grab rail in the bathroom.

Parking is a little difficult if you have a large car.

Beautiful period house in an excellent location. The owners had thought of everything you might need plus nice welcome essentials. Lovely space inside and out. Loved the decor, comfortable beds and quality bedding. Useful outside space that was in the sun most of the day. Parking space was a bit tight but a massive bonus. We would highly recommend, especially if you have a dog. Old Margate is lovely and full of quality independent shops and restaurants. The house is close enough to Margate Station if you didn't want to drive. We didn't use the car much at all, just for trying different dog friendly beaches, of which there are plenty. Thank you so much to the owners for sharing their beautiful cottage and allowing pets. We really did have a great time and would recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to be in the old town.

There is a strange set up for rubbish. This is due to the council not the owners though. We would suggest you recycle as you go, the closest bins are on the front just before Dreamland by the beach. General waste goes in a bag at the end of the road on your last day. We ended up taking ours out with us daily as it was exceptionally warm when we were there and we used bins in the town.

The cottage is ideally located in the old town, close to restaurants, shops etc. It was really well equipped with everything that we needed. We loved the pretty courtyard garden. Comfortable beds, quality linen and towels. There was even bread, eggs and milk for us on arrival which was a lovely touch. Communication with the host was excellent and any questions that we had were answered promptly. Highly recommended.
