Barreiros House

We loved our stay in the apartment. It is very spacious, confortable, has everything that we needed for our stay in Madeira and amazing views of Funchal and the ocean. The recommendations provided by the contact person have been very detailed and useful, helping us make the most of our stay on the island.

The internet was not covering the entire house but we had plenty of data on our cells so this was not a problem for us.

I especially liked the fact that the property had a big terrace and an outside kitchen which we used every morning and evening. We made food with local produce, for example we fried local fish twice and had a barbeque, something I would not have done had we not had access to the outdoor kitchen. In addition, the indoor common area is spacious and there are two separate bathrooms.

A large spacious apartment with two bathrooms and a large terrace. An outdoor kitchen was available, but we didn't use it much because we were going on trips and dining out in restaurants in the evenings. Everything necessary was provided, including towels, soap, a hairdryer, and laundry detergent tablets. Our host, Tiago, was very attentive and recommended places to visit as well as restaurants. It was also possible to arrange a later check-out.

The apartment is on the ground floor of the house, so the environment is more humid, and some cabinets were musty. The smaller bathroom also had a slight odor, so we used the larger one with a window. There were a lot of mosquitoes, repellents were available, but we still got bitten quite a lot.

The apartment was large and had excellent facilities for cooking. It was clean, had veggies ripe for the picking and was in a great location. The pizza oven and BBQ were a lovely addition and the washing machine and dishwasher were also excellent, although not in the description. There were two showers and they were great. The host was very friendly via WhatsApp and the cake and wine were a welcome addition considering we were 4 hours late arriving due to being diverted to Porto Santos due to winds. Buses were close by and some excellent cafes. Due to the exceptionally strange weather it was very hot in the apartment but a large fan was provided when requested. Leaving the windows open was a recipe for bitesaster.

Having to go from the lounge/bar area to the microwave and fridge outside all the time. It was exceptionally hot and the mosquitoes were really going for it. Although mozzie killer was supplied and it's a nature thing but remember to take antihistamine cream! There were only 2 knives for use in the kitchen, one knife for bread and a VERY blunt knife for everything else. Needs some new knives.

Just a little thing: there should be the shower gel available as described (but there was only shampoo and 1 hand soap for 4 peopla arriving too late to buy it somewhere)

Big space, comfy beds, 2 bathrooms, and absolutely nice terrance. There was everything provided, we were not missing anything. Our host was taking care of us, always willing to help.

location was superb ,views spectacular , close to local amenities , lots of useful information from host , would certainly stay here again if visiting Madeira.
