The Secret Cottage - Morpeth

Beautifully renovated property, in a fab location. Cosy and clean, just as the photos suggested. Parking was easy nearby.

Gorgeous place but we found it to be hard to unpack as there was nowhere to put anything! The hanging rail for clothes only had 3 hangers, with no drawers provided. It seemed to be style over substance in a few areas. A few hooks in the bathrooms would be helpful for hanging wet towels & wash bags. Kitchen was lacking in plates, bowls, cutlery - you’d struggle if you were eating in. Top bunk for the children was unsafe, without a safety rail - and with the bottom rung of the ladder was missing. My kids both slept on the bottom bunk.

The bath in the bedroom was a great luxury. The style of the property was tasteful and the size of the property was generous.

I think it would be nice to have some shower products included. The bed in the master bedroom is creaky which could be improved.

So clean and well thought out had An amazing renovation 10 out of 10 !!

If I could think of anything to moan about struggle to find it on the first evening but not the first place I've had this . But is called Secret cottage 😆

New mattresses needed I think, ok for a short stay.

Easy key box

Nowhere near enough crockery or cutlery. Only 2 wine glasses 3 knives 2 dinner plates. Lots of plates chipped. Watered down soap unusable. Not enough places in main bedroom to put toiletries or hang towels. Very uncomfy mattress in 2nd bedroom. No welcome pack.

Upstairs heating didn't work or we probably upset some setting or other and we had no hot water on the last day

A good location but weekend spoilt by major fault not repaired.

On arrival noticed that the main bathroom did not have a working light. Reported to host immediately. No response from host. Had to ring property manager instead. The repair was not carried out. We had to return to property early so we could take shower in daylight before we went out for evening. Host was very unsympathetic. I am now commenting on the Host's response : "you called me late on a Saturday night as the light wasn’t working in the bathroom" - UNTRUE - I messaged your Property Manager when we arrived at the property - FRIDAY EVENING. I didn't get a response so I rang your Property Manager on Saturday morning - was told to leave the key in the Key box so the maintenance person could get in. We returned to the property a couple of times that day and no one had visited. You only started to ring me after I told you I wasn't happy that the light still wasn't working. "I requested out of hrs maintenance to attend to the property and his van broke down" - you told me that the maintenance person was at another job. If he was at another job, you should have ensured that someone attended to the problem. "As I explained at the time and now so sorry this happened" - you were very unsympathetic and told me that we could have used the bath in another room. We are elderly and my daughter is pregnant - we were unable to use the bath. We booked a property with a shower and expected to be able to use it. "And have since tried to reason with you to rectify this issue when you demanded a full refund and an extra night stay for the light not working" - RUBBISH - you are a liar - I asked for £75 refund which is 25% of the amount we paid for the weekend stay. We didn't want to stay - you offered us a discount on another one of you 6+ properties.

Excellent central location for restaurants and shops

No bedside lights and double bed structure was a bit unstable

Loved the interior and how cosy the property was. Really well equipped, excellent location too. Felt very safe and walkable distance to all cafes & restaurants. Had everything we needed.

Bigger towels would be great!
