"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Would highly recommend"

9.0

Very quirky little cottage with everything you needed. In a lovely quiet location but within easy reach in the car of local attractions. We wasn’t able to use the garden due to bad weather but I am sure it is nice to sit outside in the sun. Beds are very comfy, albeit a little struggle to get on and off. The bottle of wine and treats for the dog were a really nice touch. Really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

This was just a personal preference and nothing against the cottage. The floor is very cold so I would take slippers if I was to go again. Also a little chilly in the living area on a night but not cold enough to put the heating on. Maybe a couple of blankets/throws for the settees.

Modern decor, beautiful location, cleanliness, quirkiness and responsive host.

Complicated oven/grill & bathroom being downstairs although neither were major.

"For a couple and not kids"

6.0

Modern kitchen with everything you need to make a basic meal and breakfast. We had a readymade lasagne and garlic bread and bacon sandwiches for breakfast with no problem. No washing machine though so don’t bank on being able to throw dirty kids clothes in the wash! Comfy mattresses. Efficient heating and plenty of hot water. Comfy sofa and chair in lounge. Quiet village location, beautiful countryside. Very clean throughout.

It’s perfect for a couple but not suitable for children or for anyone with any sort of mobility issues or dodgy knees or backs etc. We had our 12 week old baby with us and it was really tricky for the following reasons: We asked for the travel cot to be there, which it was, but it was the size of a playpen and too deep for me to lean over and put the baby in - I couldn’t reach the bottom! Luckily I had bought the Moses basket with us just in case. There are steps everywhere throughout the property inside and out so trying to get the pram over the gravel outside and then down the steps into the lounge was impossible. (The kitchen where you enter the property is too small to leave a pram there) We ended up having to carry the baby to the car in the lane opposite in the rain each time because there was no space to keep the pram in the house. The second to bottom step of the staircase is broken and made going up and down (whilst holding the baby or not) dangerous. It needs replacing straight away. The beds are really comfortable once you get into them. They are both on platforms which are waist high and only accessed by a fixed stool that you step onto then crawl onto the bed. Because the stool is fixed, if the person in the bed is asleep on that side, then you have to climb over them to get to the step to get down. We ended up sleeping in separate rooms to avoid this. Be aware that the location is not Skipton - it is half an hour’s drive away. If you’re hoping to see the gorgeous views whilst sipping a cup of tea on the sofa, choose a different cottage. The lounge is at lower ground floor level so the bottom of the windows are at head height and you can only look up and see the tops of the trees. The dining chairs are really uncomfortable as the seat pads are rubbish and you sink and end up sitting on the frame. Rain comes down the chimney onto the lounge floor.

"An interesting place to stay in beautiful countryside"

8.0

This was an unusual cottage conversion, very nicely done, with a downstairs toilet/shower room. I liked how it was done. Although it was right next to the road, we did not find it nearly as noisy as first thought - it is in a lovely rural setting on the Cumbrian border with North Yorkshire. It also has the advantage of being a hundred yards from a cafe with great food and round the corner is the village car park, where we left the car.

Although not really an issue for us, some might find all the stairs between one's bed and the toilet a challenge. There was a suitable lamp we could leave on at night to make this easier.
