Millgate Cottage in the heart of Richmond

Location excellent, clean and comfortable.

Very steep and narrow stairways. If you were disabled, elderly, or obese I think you would find it very difficult to get to the bedroom and move around in the bathroom.

The stairs were very steep.

The location is central to the main town square, short walk to the river and shops nearby. The property was lovely and quaint and lots of original features which we enjoyed. Nice and clean and lots of useful info and great communication from the owner.. Great stay 😀

Great location very close to centre and shops, yet quiet. Lovely comfy bed.

We didnt get instructions for the key box number and had to chase on arrival. The door lock just repeatedly span around when we tried to open the door, requiring very careful gentle manipulation of the key to get it to work. The bathroom radiator did not work at all, so bathroom was freezing. Instructions were to open-wide the bathroom window when having a shower, as there is no extractor fan, which made it an even more freezing experience! The plumbing to ths bathroom sink was akin to something out of Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang. The hot water tap especially, just sprayed water in every direction and sounded like a steam train about to blow. Then the pipes would start to vibrate across the whole house. Startlingly!. The cold water tap was almost as bad. The towels had significant stains on them and one looked as if it had been used to wipe the floor. The central heating was set too low for the time of year and required continuous manual intervention to even get the house anywhere near warm. We departed a day early.. We felt that to complain all of this as it emerged would cause our break to be completely dominated by the issues and so we did not but we did leave a note for the owner to which we have not received a reply. Hard to understand all this, when previous feedback seemed quite good (we based our decision to stay there on this). If you look back at our feedback for the many properties we have stayed, you will see we have not had cause to complain before..........

Well kept Tradional Well stocked which we didn't expect Tea biscuits on arrival.Could'nt fault it.

We weren't there long enough

It's a beautiful traditional cottage, many original features like the wooden beams, and everything you need - really comfortable and quiet. We found it really relaxing . The location is fantastic, round the corner from the market square and close to the Fosse falls and river banks. It's naturally a small space inside but the way that's been made use of is great, good shower and bathroom, really nice kitchen space and cosy living room. Everything you'd need for a short stay was provided, really impressed the way Neil seemed to have thought of everything for the kitchen and general comfort.
