Nether Onston Cottage

The location of the cottage is absolutely amazing, lovely views and beautiful garden, we enjoyed sitting outside and had a wonderful rest. The size of the cottage is perfect, plenty of space and really nicely done with all facilities we needed. It was also very easy to reach all the sites on the island we wanted to visit so all in all an amazing host and accommodation. Highly recommended for rest in beautiful nature!

Great communication with the hosts ahead of arrival. The fresh farm eggs, milk, bread and a few other goodies were a very welcome surprise. Location of the property beside Stenness Loch is beautiful.

This property really only works for travelers with a car.

Brighter light in bedroom

stunning location , comfortable cottage , clean and roomy . Amazing views across the loch to R.O.B .

This is a small cottage semi detached from the owners part, but nonetheless it is private, there is a sheltered area to sit outside and a summer house a bit closer to the loch, from there you can see the ring of Brodgar, Maeshowe and the stones of Stenness are just hidden by a headland. The facilities are good enough to cook a smart meal with a bit of thought. The sitting/dining room is fine, right next to the kitchen. The shower room is functional and had an electric shower in a good surround which works well although a bit idiosyncratic on start up. Two of us were very comfortable, although we are used to a lot of space at home so would have found it a bit crowded if there were another couple as well. We were given a great welcome pack which included some fab eggs from the hens that peck around the buildings, they are pretty tame and came to us looking for extra goodies to eat!

It’s not a “didn’t like” - the cottage is plain pebble dashed like so many places on Orkney so not much eye appeal, but works well inside.

All good lovely location. Some goodies left by owner. Didn’t actually see them , so would have been nice to say hello. However we were out most of the day. WiFi sometimes a bit hit and miss but guess due to location Orkney is lovely location.

WiFi not always good

The cottage was perfect for two friends, warm and all facilities you’d expect. Has a summer house which when better weather would be lovely. Location right beside the loch so great views and easy to get about if sightseeing
