Very friendly neighbour. Nice wee outside room overlooking the loch that we spent time just watching the bird life and life go bye. Very comfortable stay.

"I would highly recommend this beautiful rural cottage holiday let."

10.0

I loved the whole relaxed atmosphere, the beautiful location, the roominess, the helpfulness of the owner always available to text with any query, and I just wish the weather had been better to make use of the great summer house.

"Adequate for ourselves as a couple for a short break."

6.0

Ideally situated to explore the West Mainland, being beside the main road from Kirkwall (20mins) and Stromness (5mins) Comfortable for ourselves as a couple with a compact, well appointed kitchen with new appliances, although we might have made better use over our 5 day stay with a dishwasher as opposed to a washing machine.

Unfortunately on arrival we found the cutlery and crockery required to be washed prior to use. The following have all been highlighted before and could not be referred to a dislikes, more general observations. a) There is a 15 metre walk from the bedrooms through the living room and kitchen to the bathroom/shower. b) We found it difficult to control the living room heater while the bedroom unit heated this room instantly. c) The need to have a supply of pound coins, although we did not require to top up the electricity meter during our stay. d) Restricted views from most windows due to farmyard outbuildings.

"Do not understand why VAT charged."

6.0

Location very convenient. Log burning stove plus supply of logs very useful given the weather was freezing and house was cold. TV with free services Fresh eggs on arrival

It states it can accommodate up to 5 people in 3 bedrooms but there is only seating on a sofa that seats 3 people and a dining table with 4 chairs. Toilet/shower is at opposite end of house from bedrooms. Only £15 credit given for electricity (main sourse of heat & power) and then need to put £1 or £2 coins in meter Given it was £720 for 6 nights, only being allowed £15 electricity allowance during whole stay (£2.50 per day) seems strange. Property appears to be VAT registered which added 20% to overall cost. I have never seen any other rental cottage be registered for VAT especially as the VAT threshold is now £90,000 Very little space in lounge/dining room and layout made it difficult to watch TV from sofa. If there were 4 people staying dining would be pretty 'cosy' Bedrooms were very cold and only have wall mounted heating system that blows hot air and makes a noise. Shortage of glasses (only 4 wine glasses (2 white, 2 red) and some beer glasses) plus a couple of sundry odd glasses Shower did not drain properly and so gradually filled up when having a shower
