Chater Cottage Rothbury

Nice clean mezzanine cottage, good facilities and right near the river and shops.

The hearing wasn't on and took around 4 hrs to heat up, meaning having to text the owner and go into the adjacent cottage to get heaters, which after you have travelled and on a xmas eve, is the last thing you want. No hot water for shower or washing up wach Morning, we kept having to turn the boiler tap on as the pressure had dropped. Lots of walkers and dogs on the path behind the cottage which leads to the river.

This is a beautiful cottage that has been restored and furnished with great care. The fixtures and fittings were high end. There was everything you could need and more. It was very clean. The host was friendly and attentive.

Be aware that the bedroom is on a mezzanine level with the bathroom and loo being downstairs. The headroom in the bedroom and the top half of the stairs is very limited.

Perfectly located to the village and quietly situated. Very easy to access the bus stop and local shops. The furnishings and facilities were of a very high standard and you could tell the owner took pride in the property.

The lack of phone signal and poor wi fi meant it was difficult to keep in touch with people although I found it better in the garden. It wouldn't stop me staying here again.

Generally a pleasant place to be Everything was clean. The bedding was nice. Cottage was very well equipped. Proximity to village facilities. Provision of bottle of Prosecco, thanks. Magazines and books. Cottage was warm. Key Safe for entry Provision of tea towels, towels, dish clothes etc.

Down stairs toilet/ upstairs bedroom (our fault for not noticing when booking) for many this won't be a thing. Sofas uncomfortable. Pity not to be able to open the French doors when the sun has made the room very hot. A few things need fixing, and none of these things will greatly affect a stay, just irritating. Leaking radiator in bathroom, Cooker hood doesn't work, Table lamp didn't work.

Beautifully decorated and in of the best areas very cosy at night. Was given a lovely bottle of wine. The area is magical

The bedroom is small you can't stand up in ot properly so not good if you have physical health issues. Bed is small and firm. The floor is very squeaky and makes you feel couscous when walking on it. Its half a cottage that has been split so its very small. I thought £120 a night was a bit expensive for the size but overall the area is beautiful.

Cosy, clean and quiet despite being right in the village

Did have some issues with WiFi connection but not major problem. TV very high on wall - probably not an issue for a taller person but as a shortie was uncomfortable to watch

Excellent cottage in centre of Rothbury. Had everything that was required - excellent standard of cleanliness and very comfortable.
