"Quant, quirky cottage in fantastic location."

7.0

Fantastic location, quant and quirky little cottage. Lovely comfy bed, very cosy. Accommodated our two dogs and us comfortably.

Low ceilings, watch out if you’re over 6 foot. The outside space was very small, not suitable to let the dogs out onto as you have to go through a bedroom to get outside. Car park was more like 100 yards up the high street, no parking outside. The stairs were very steep!

"Lovely small cottage in wonderful location."

10.0

Great cottage with everything we needed. Very comfortable.

Third bedroom is tiny suitable really for the young only. Second bathroom again really only suitable for the young as both are up a flight of near vertical stairs.

"Cottage lovely. Cleanliness and facilities poor, property maintainence poor and a new cleaner wouldn’t go amiss."

4.0

Old cottage, pleasantly furnished in lounge and dining room. Patio unusable as dirty and weedy. Difficult access. Very small.

Lovely little cottage but would not use again. No running hot water for our stay of three days, two nights, not even in the shower room basins and kitchen. Had to boil a kettle. En suite shower room had dirt encrusted walls and a very dirty shower curtain. Upstairs shower room too small for adult. Water pipe in here had black dirt hanging off it. There were swarms of thunder flies in the kitchen all over crockery on open shelving. When items were washed the flies were on them within two minutes. Hinge on kitchen cupboard was faulty and the cupboard inside was very dirty/messy.I contacted the owner on our arrival to complain about the water and freezer not working and was informed a plumber would call the next date to rectify the problems and a cleaner would spray the bugs. I was asked to leave the key in a set place for the plumber’s access. Nothing had changed Wednesday on our return to the cottage, and I knew the key had not been touched. I asked if the plumber had been and was told he had with his master key and had said there was no problem with the hot water!!! No hot water. Freezer still not working. Bugs still running riot in kitchen. Apparently the freezer fuse must have blown before our arrival. The hot water switch was not on (where is the switch and why didn’t the plumber switch it on?) Still no hot water Thursday. Kettle to en-suite again and for washing up. The owner was visiting the cottage Thursday but couldn’t meet us there. She didn’t see the very dirty shower tiles, or the bugs, or any other problem during her visit. However, three professional adults saw all of the above and I have photos and videos to prove it.

"Our stay at The Bittern, Blakeney."

7.0

Very good location and good accommodation. Good instructions to get in to accommodation. Clean linens.

Few issues to improve upon. - Clogged bathroom drain resulting in slow water clearance. Needs unclogging. - Poor ventilation leading to a stuffy inside atmosphere. - Unclean inside (roof top) of Microwave. I cleaned it as my son wasn't ready to use it. - Bulb not working in the walk through area from living to the 2nd bedroom. - Loose towel holder ring in bathroom. Came off. - Shower area needs better cleaning as plenty of black Mould seen on the chipped walls.

"Not quite what we expected."

5.0

The property was easy to find and the first key was hidden in an accessible place. The second key to the property required my husband to climb up using a flower pot to retrieve it! It was very centrally located and we especially enjoyed being able to pop next door to the delicatessen to buy breakfast! The decor had a heavy accent on poppies but the kitchen was very well equipped. Would be most suitable for a family with older children/young teens due to it's rather quirky layout.

It was not obvious when booking on the booking.com website that the third bedroom (likened by one of our group to Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs!) was only accessible through the second bedroom, up a steep, narrow staircase, which would not be suitable for small children or older adults. Unfortunately this meant that the fifth person in our group had to find alternative accomodation for the week. The central location meant that there was a heavy stream of other holidaymakers regularly passing our front windows, and the proximity to the delicatessan meant that the staff often also passed by our rear windows on their way to the storeroom. Perhaps not the best choice of property if you value privacy! Beds were comfy but the bedding was a bit old and tired and could do with replacing. The age of the property meant that the bathrooms had been added into the spaces available, which in respect of the upstairs bathroom was very small. This was also accessed via the steep, narrow staircase and required some contortions to use the facilities! In the downstairs bathroom, the shower curtain rail is not properly fixed to the walls, which meant pulling the shower curtain across had to be a very delicate procedure, otherwise the whole lot came down! This happened several times during our stay. The property could have done with having a clothes airer as there was nowhere to dry damp swimsuits or towels. Overall, we made the most of the week but would be unlikely to book this property again.

The location was amazing and the host was very helpful

It is rather dated and needs modernisation The shower temperature was hard to control as kept going hot then cold.
