2 bedroomed fisherman’s cottage near quay

It was very cosy !

The stairs ! But it is a very old property ! And the TV the sound quality was really poor although it was great to be able to watch Netflix and Amazon ! Not a deal breaker for us though

**Please do not book before reading this, awful customer service from the host** We checked in at dusk, went straight out as it was the fireworks display,then had an early night. We were awakened by our dog howling at 4.30 in the morning, the kitchen light had been left on, there were lots of angry wasps flying around the light and some in the lounge. They later settled down and were mostly swarmed on the kitchen light and window, I messaged the host and then spoke to her in person. She was immediately defensive saying that they must have come from outside, I explained that all the doors and windows were shut and that the numbers had diminished so they were going somewhere i.e., nesting in the kitchen. I also sent her a video clearly showing them. She initially agreed to change us to another property, we messaged her that we would pack up and await an update. It was now light; the cottage was filthy and unkempt! The lounge was full of thick dust, with a dirty and broken lampshade, the bathroom was disgusting, the shower head was unhygienic and grimy, as was the bath itself. We decided not to mention this yet as Veronica had promised us a swap. 4 hours after leaving, despite messaging several times we got no update and rang Booking.com. We were informed that the cottage had been checked and that only 2 dead wasps had been found – so where had the swarm gone? We said that we could not take the chance of our dog being stung, they rang the host who had now decided there was no alternative accommodation. We informed them we were leaving and would ask for a refund for the remainder of our 3-night stay. Later, the host informed us that we would not receive a refund as their handy person/cleaner had supposedly only found 3 wasps. I then told her about the filth, reminded her of the video and sent more photos to prove what we had seen. This seemed to infuriate her, she then threatened to ‘name’ me if I wrote a negative or untruthful review.

Ideal location, well equipped, comfortable & warm cottage. Made contact with owner to see if we could stay later on departure day, it was no problem at all which was gratefully appreciated

Nothing to dislike like about the quaint fisherman’s cottage.

Very welcoming, cosy , excellent choice of decor for welcoming lovely surroundings. Comfy beds and a lovely bathroom. Great kitchen with everything you could need. Loved it. 👍

No breakfast

Cottage could have been cleaner. Bath did not drain to a very dirty, hard full drain. Flies on windowsills, hob had food waste on, oven dirty.
