The Cottage Gillamoor

Everything you needed was there. The only comment would be the fire would benefit from smokeless fuel mixed with wood. This is not a criticism, we had a fabulous stay and definitely would return.

Quirkiness

Great location for sightseeing on the moors. Beautiful cottage with so many wonderful features. Very comfortable and really felt at home. Welcome pack was a nice touch. Hosts very helpful and friendly. Lovely big bath. Would definitely visit again.

Only 2 nights - would have loved to stayed for a full week. Stairs are a bit challenging if you are slightly less mobile like my wife - but a small price to pay as they too are part of the character of the house.

The location is perfect for a nice relaxing weekend away, The Cottage is lovely and the welcome box is a nice touch, Mark paid us a visit and explained a little about the Cottage. The pub serves fantastic food, But I would strongly advise you book as people travel from all over to eat there.

We didn't like the responsibility of stripping the bed and putting the washer on, We thought we was getting away from that 🤣🤣

A little gem in Gillamoor. The cottage is full of character, very tidy, and hosts are super friendly.

Lovely, quiet, safe location ideally situated for exploring nearby areas and attractions. It was really nice to be able to park directly outside the cottage. Gillamoor itself is pretty much 2 streets and a charming village pub, which is quite literally round the corner. We spent most of our time in nearby Helmsley, which is a lovely market town about 8 miles away. The cottage itself was perfect - just the right balance of traditional with modern facilities. We really loved the cosy lounge and light, airy kitchen/diner which looks out onto the tidy, enclosed garden. The stairs are quite steep due to the age/style of the property, but you soon get used to ducking on the way up and it doesn’t detract from the experience. We only used the master bedroom, which was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful, relaxing view from the window. The hosts were in touch both before and during our stay and it was lovely to meet Claire. Everything is clearly labelled, e.g. wi-fi details, shower functions etc. and the handbook is really useful. We also received an amazing welcome pack of wine, delicious biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and freshly ground coffee, and some lovely flowers, all of which was a very lovely and thoughtful touch. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would definitely recommend.

The cottage was immaculate, well equipped, and comfortable. It has bags of character and a delightful quirkiness. The garden was a lovely, peaceful place to relax in the sunshine. There are lots of walks from the doorstep and some excellent local pubs to eat in. The Cottage at Gillamoor was a great base from which to explore the natural beauty and highlights of the North York Moors.

Beautifully clean comfortable and well equipped cottage in a great location. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Very comfortable bed!

Stairs were a bit steep for a 75yr old with a mobility issue.
