We arrived at Lanna House after a 24-hour journey on a rainy night, and from the moment we met Mr. Manus, we knew we had come to the right place. He welcomed us with warmth, handled our late check-in professionally, and even drove us to a wonderful local noodle shop because we were exhausted and starving. This set the tone for our entire stay. The homestay is run by Mr. Manus and his lovely wife, Mrs. Toy — two incredibly kind, respectful, and thoughtful people who truly care about their guests. Every morning, a delicious homemade breakfast was waiting for us, far better than anything we could have found outside. The property also offers snacks (fruits, crackers, tea, coffee), a washing machine, and clean, spacious guest houses surrounded by nature. Our room was spotless upon arrival, and we always felt completely comfortable and safe. During our stay, Mr. Manus took us on several beautiful trips around Chiang Dao — feeding monks in the early morning, joining a Kathina ceremony with the local community, visiting temples, exploring forests and mountains, and experiencing Loy Krathong and Yi Peng the way the locals celebrate it. If it weren’t for Lanna House, we would never have learned so much about Thai culture and the history of the region. The location is perfect as well: peaceful, green, and still very close to nice cafés and restaurants. If you do not drive a motorbike, don’t worry — you can rent a motorbike or bicycle through Mr. Manus, or he will happily drive you to local places. Even the airport/Chiang Mai transfer can be arranged, which we highly recommend (it was much more reliable than using Grab). We originally planned to stay 5 days but ended up staying 21 days because it truly felt like home. The Wi-Fi was stable for our remote work, the nature was beautiful, and above all, the hosts treated us like family. Their son, Mr. Tada, was also always available if we had any questions or needed help.

Manus en zijn lieve familie hebben ons hartelijk verwelkomd. Hij heeft ons de prachtige omgeving en de lokale cultuur laten zien. We vonden het ook erg gezellig!

Manus and his family are wonderful, kind hosts. The setting is magical—you can hear birds, frogs, insects, and water as you sleep. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön in der Natur gelegen. Von dort sind Wanderungen, Läufe und die Besichtigung mehrerer Tempel sehr gut möglich. Sehr netter und zuvorkommender Gastgeber. Der Gastgeber hat sich sehr viel Zeit genommen uns die Gegend zu zeigen. Vegan friendly. Wir können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen.

The stay was simply perfect! Manos is an amazing person who went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. he’s a real gentleman, kind, patient, and with a big heart. He took us to local restaurants with delicious Thai food showed us stunning views around the area and helped us with everything we needed It was quiet, clean, and very pleasant place – an experience not to be missed! The host was extremely hospitable and helpful, taking us to the nearest 7-Eleven for some essential groceries as soon as we arrived.. He also provided much assistance in helping us plan our activities for our stay and acting as a local guide driving us to see the sunset from the nearest mountain and taking us to the elephant sanctuary located 40 minutes south of Chiang Dao. In the evening our gracious host made a vegetarian BBQ with local vegetables at a very nice and cozy campfire in the guest house accompanied by warm ginger tea. This was an amazing chance to get to know the other guests and have friendly and interesting conversations. The location is majestic, very beautiful and quiet, located under the mountain and surrounded by a small field of local crops (chillies, bananas and more). At night many stars can be seen. The room has everything one can think of. The host is very detail oriented and cares about the guests comfort. There's a shaded pagoda overviewing the mountain perfect for reading and relaxing. There's a fully equipped outside kitchen with a microwave as well. The bathroom and bedroom also have a great view. Breakfasts were sensational with delicious fruits and a coffee machine. The host also has a scooter for rent and there's so much beautiful nature around. Also the night market was amazing

The location is a bit far from the city center and it takes a 10 minute drive to the closest convenient store so personal transportation is required.

Clean and in nature. Very pleasant and the location is great as it’s near lots of nice cafes and restaurants as well in walking distance.

It’s a bit close to a road which is quite loud during the day. At night you don’t hear it as there is no traffic.
