Very clean and cosy. Great views! Very kind host, left us some milk, biscuits, jams and bread.

So comfortable, even in the stormy weather it was very warm and cosy

The only thing I’d suggest is maybe a handrail up the steps to the door for those of us of an age, but absolutely couldn’t fault it, gorgeous location too

The Retreat is a wonderful, comfy place to stay, the beds are divine! Sadly due to ill health we had to leave early so didn’t get to explore the area much. Ali is a lovely host and there are lots of personal touches to enhance your stay.

The weather! Very steep hill up to the property but not the fault of the owner at all!

The retreat had the most amazing views on the doorstep, accompanied by the surrounding animals like cows and sheep. It was spacious and had a cottage cosy feel. It was extremely clean and in a great location for us to visit the Hay-on-Wye winter festival. Ali was a very friendly and accommodating host.

The property was lovely, well kept and has everything that you would need, with no expense spared. Lovely welcoming host.

Everything about our stay suited our needs perfectly.

We loved the property, both the interior and the wonderful view and situation. Interior decor was perfect: modern but in a comfortable way. Uncluttered: surfaces left clear for guests to put their own essentials out. Artwork different from the standard hol cottage flowers/scenes and we enjoyed looking at it. Amazing long-distance view. Location very away-from-it-all but directions easy to follow. Parking easy. Appreciated the little extras on arrival. A lot of thought has gone into guests' needs.

Heating: not sure why but on the second evening there was no heating available - we sat on the sofa with rugs around us! That's the only reason I marked down facilities/comfort because the heating seemed to be controlled from outside (and it was an unusually cool late Aug).
